I have just gotten into RC helis and I bought a used Falcon 46, the original model. I haven't gotten everything ready to fly yet and iIt wasn't until now that I could fully take the thing apart and examine it. I had a minor crash trimming the heli out and boomstruck when i gave it negative pitch when it was on the ground. It was pretty frustrating and embarrassing. Well I found someone to help me set up the heli and show me what to look for in a good setup. It is the original Falcon 46 and I noticed when I got the replacement upperside frame that the plastic of the new part seemed much stronger.

I am finding I am having to replace allot of old worn parts. I noticed that the flybars are sorta wobbly, and I traced the problem to a loose fitting WASHOUT SET and worn main gear. I this normal or to replace these warn parts that aren't broken, just a little worn.

Can anyone tell me anything the have specifically noticed on their falcon, wether problems or just differences from normal helis in setup or particular parts the break easily.
Thanks for your time.

The good news is Century parts are not that expensive compared to many birds. I am glad that you are going thru your new aquisition. I would replace anything that appears weak or loose. I have had problems with the Tail Case gears being soft and wearing quickly. Has it been upgraded to the torque tube or is it still wire drive. The torque tube is great but pricy I wish there was a belt drive alternative like the Freya. Check all bearings especially the mains and also crown gear for wear even minor tail strikes can notch this. Check the areas where the fuel tank meets the lower frames and where the servo frame attaches to the upper frame for wear or wallowing out of screws. I am sure I missed something but will think about it. Hope it helps.

Falcon 46

I flew Falcons for two or three years because they were the "best" buy on the market at the time. I upgraded an original version up to what is close to the current offering and stuffed one into a Funkey Bell 222 fuselage. The most problems I ever had were the main gear stripping, and the landing gear struts breaking because both were too brittle. Aside from that, no "real" problems. Parts will wear on any machine, especially a heli, so, good maintenance is crucial.

Just to clarify:

The names"Falcon" and "Hawk" were originally used by Hirobo for their line of helis. I can only speculate why Century used these names :=) I would have thought they would come out with the "Stork" next and eventually the Eagle Then again Century should have left it the original name of the heli made by Lion called "HeliCat".

Just to set the record straight.
