Synergy R/C Synergy N9 > Synergy cyclic setup and servo arm clearance

Quick note on setting up the cyclics. I would recommend using the inner hole on the washout arms and using more of the CCPM swash adjustment to obtain the cyclic pitch you want. I have flown mine on the outer holes and used less swash adjustment but you need to be careful of binding on extremes on the washout links. I had a few "nicks" in my washout arms when I used the outer holes. On my machine I also chose to lengthen the bellcrank linkages 3 turns to raise the swashplate to clear the elevator servo pushrod at full negative and full right aileron input. After I lengthened the bellcrank rods I then shortened the long rods from the washout arms up to the bell mixers 3 turns. I checked the entire linkage setup and I found my ball links at the servos hitting the bridge supports. I then used (2) 3mm id washers under each servo bridge support screw on the outside servos to allow the ball links on the servos to clear underneath the bridge supports. Also check to make sure the bell mixers do not hit the head button. My .02 cents on setting up the control linkages. I will post some pics of the washers under the bridge supports in my gallery soon. If anyone has any questions feel free to PM me.

I was helping buddy setup his last Sunday and he had a same proble.Swash was hitting the elevator rod. After about 1/2 hour scratching my head,I finaly opened the manual and double checked the linkages. The smallest link comming from bell mixer has a specified length, in the manual and it looks like ballinks are simly against each other. My friend never checked the length, just screw onthe links tight.Turned out we had to trim the about 1/4 inch to get the length. After that everything worked perfect.

Valerko great point. Yes my ball links were like 43mm long that connect the bell mixer to the blade grip. The total length needs to be 39mm. So you need to cut off about 4-5mm off of one ball link.

Joe,

On your servos what is the distance from the center of the servo to ball? If using arms with 14mm distance will you still need the washers under the pivot supports? What pitch and cyclic are you getting?

I think the balls are about 14mm from center using the HD futaba servo arms that came with my 9351s. Yes I had to use 2 washers under the servo support bridges. I will take pics tonight and post in my gallery. I think I also used a few 2.5mm washers under the ball on the elevator servo horn to move the ball link/rod up a bit to eliminate binding with ball link on the elevator servo horn. I only have -11 to +11 and 7 degrees of cyclic. I am going to try and move everything some more to get 8 or more on the cyclics this week and hopefully -12 to +12 or more w/o binding.

One big pivot plate would help as a few support stand offs could be eliminated in case of extreme interference, like the rear elevator one for full positive pitch and forward elevator. I guess one for each servo manufacture would be needed though.
