greetings all,
the manual of the n9 specifies heavy duty servo arms. are the regular arms that come with the jr8311 servos considered h/d or do i purchase some special h/d/ arms?
regards
franz

I was curious about this too. I was thinking about using the standard horns for the futaba 9255 myself but I guess they require stronger horns for a reason. So I have seen most if not all of the guys using the heavy horns are using those monster plastic horns (not sure who makes them) I was wondering if a cnc horn would do the job efficently. I think dynamite makes cnc horns that have removeable spleen sleeves so you can center it on the servo without having to put in tons of subtrim. And it comes with a sleeve to fit each brand of servo

Something like this one:

And here are the plastic ones I see everywhere:

Mike,

The heavy duty servo horns that most people are using are made by Futaba and do the job well enough.

Those CNC servo arms look nice but don't provide much 'give' in crash situations. Would much rather have a plastic servo arm break than something else on the heli!

Very true Wes! I didn't think about that one. I'll have to pick up the futaba set then. Thanks

I wonder if those splines would give way it a crash on those cnc horns? I agree on the plastic ones but you have to buy alot to get them right if you do not like using subtrim.

I guess that with enough force the plastic spleen sleeve would strip and give way. maybe even sooner than breaking those super duty plastic horns. Its just a question of how much force is required to strip those spleens. I have one on my collective servo for my raptor and I think I still have some of the other spleens it came with...hmmm I wonder if I could test it somehow by seeing what would give first, the monster plastic horn or the plastic spleen on the cnc horn. But I also must say from my extensive crash testing experience, every time either the servo gearset stripped out or in the case of metal gear servos, the linkage rods would give first. I have never broken a servo horn not even the standard ones.
