Hi,

On page A3 of the manual the 'main gear hub coller' is shown with the ribbed end facing up towards the main gear, on page A4 it looks like the ribbed end is facing down, which way should it face ? I have mine facing up ?

Sprag bearing, when installed if I hold the main shaft I can turn the main gear anticlockwise, is that right ?

Thanks

Simon.

sprag bearing for simon

hi simon,

it seems like you got the sprag bearing in correctly. also, the ribbed end of the collar in question was installed per page a3. the appearance of a ribbed end on page a4 seems to be the protrusion of the sprag inner race shown on page a3.

regards,

hans

on A7 it shows a shim being installed but it doesn't say for which engine. Os or YS? I'm guessing it's for a 90 since that is what is was designed to take.

Thankyou.

I'm upto A10, getting there

I don't have the engine in yet.

I have set the main shaft so there is no movement up and down but I can move the main gear up and down about 1mm, is that normal ?

Ok it's not the main gear moving on the main shaft. On page A3 from the main gear down to main gear hub end cap, this all moves up and down on the sprag inner race ???

simon

you may have your main gear hub end cap (110-149) on backwards. check it and see.

Hi,

One side has a small lip the the other side has a larger, I have mine with the smaller lip facing the main gear, I tried it the other way but the lip is too deep and the cap does not sit flush against the gear hub ?

I'm 99% sure I have it assembled correctly, what I need is a thin washer to go between the Sprag Inner Race and the Main Gear Hub, only needs to be about .5mm

carcrasher and simon

carcrasher,
use whatever shim is needed in order to set the gear mesh on the pinion to main gear correctly. bolt it all together without the top bearing block on the starter shaft in and you'll get an idea of whether or not you need to go thicker or thinner with the shim. for the ys, i used the thick ones.

simon,
did you get in all together with all of the screws tightened up? i do not have any play up/down in my main gear with it all assembled.

Main gear moving

This is correct. A small play is designed into the race to prevent the sprag bearing from binding. Please see page A3, note right underneath the main gear says "The main gear will have some up and down movement once installed"

Shim in spare bag is for adjusting gear mesh and does not stop the main gear from moving.

I'm at stage A9 But I don't have the engine in. I have the main shaft so it does not move up or down, I set this by holding the main shaft coller up onto the bearing block and tightening the 4 grub screws.

With it like this I can move the main gear up and down about 0.5-1mm. Only the main gear assembly is moving up and down on the Sprag inner race 110-152. Everything else is fine and secure.

Hard to explain.

Don't worry I did the same.
I pm'd Synergy and wondered why I did not get a response from them, until I did the clever thing and read the only bit of writing in the manual

Next q's

Tail offset Bell Crank, the two bearings that go in it are they suppossed to be flush once inserted, I can't get mine flush and don't want to start hamering it

Are you all using the eyelets that come with the servo's as well as the rubber grommets ?

I had a washer missing from one of the bell cranks, luckily theres a few spare in the 'spares bag'

Also I have a bearing the wrong size for the wash out assembly, they put four in the bag, except one's the wrong size

In mine the spacer was 7mm it shows a 5mm in the directions. Just filed it down to 5mm and its perfect.

I wasn't sure about the eyelets either, but have used them and everything seems ok
