Sad

LOL Wow....Makes dialing in my Fury fan look like childs play compared to what you just went through. liking my MA alot more after hearing that story. Good luck I feel for the rest of you poor saps who bought a Synergy and have to go through that process and what ever else comes with buying an RC helicopter from an unproven helicopter manufacture. Does anyone know who is making the parts? BZ Jason Krause!!

Quicksilver,
I just wanted to pull you up on those comments, my Synergy had less problems going together than my old Tempest which had more parts missing when it was delivered.

As I stated in my article, for a first run at building a model, I think they've done a great job with the Synergy. Very simple build, sure there are going to be a few issues such as the guy with the fan trouble is having. But BELIEVE ME, MA aren't the 'ideal' manufacturer to be held up on a pedestal in that regard either...

The good thing as I have always said, is there are now five awesome machines at around the same price for us to choose from, in my opinion, these are, the Vibe, Synergy, Avant/Aurora, Stratus and the Raptor.

It's also interesting how you jump on this ONE instance of this happening.

Isn't it true that most MA products you have to dial indicate and do the tap, tap, everytime you pull the engine and remove the fan. I doubt that you'll have to do that with this heli.

I did very much like the way my Fury flew, I just didn't care for the high parts count and the motor/fan install.

I think this heli meets many "requirements" in the hobby.

Simon,

I didnt think I was putting MA up on a pedastal by any means. But I can assure you it never took me 13 hours to do the run out on a helicopter fan...hell any fan for that matter. My question to you is wouldn't it be practical to make 2 or 3 different size collets that way if for what ever reason the machining on the fan is not to spec you can make up for it with different size collets. I am not putting the helicopter down...I had one on order and canceled (decided to go with the Aurora) at the last second so my friend got mine plus the one he ordered. I am sure I will have problems when I get my new machine, but I just find it dishearting to hear some of the problems and thats all.

Take care,

Kyle

Gidday Kyle,
Yeah I can understand what you're saying. I've used both YS and OS in my machine with the same collets and have not had a problem. You may ask why I've changed engines so much? Well for the first time ever, I got a dud YS, the thing was just a piece of sh!t. The first time I've come across a dud one so I'm currently getting that sorted. Meanwhile I have an OS now in it and didn't have problems swapping between either in regards to fan alignment.

I totally agree that there will be the odd examples out there that give people problems such as this particular example of the fan hub. However I think (or would LIKE to think) that this is a random example and wouldn't be repeated too often. These things happen eh, just like my dud YS .

Good luck with the Aurora, that thing looks SERIOUS.

i didnt have any problems getting my fan hub aligned, only took about 20 minutes and i got it to 3 thousands. really very few problems for a first run helicopter, and im sure it will just get better and better as it goes along.

Simon has built many heli's and is worthy of listening to.
To add a wee bit more....every heli I have made has had problems. The freya I have has had the most annoying tail vibe which I am slowly getting to grips with but was ready to smash the thing at one stage. The swashes that hirobo put on their helis are rubbish. Too sloppy from the factory. The hubs on both my sceadu and my freya needed work to dial in. You may not know that these are not collet type setups. I had to sand away on the face of the evo's hub and remove material from the inside of the hub to dial it into 1-2 thou.
The freya was ok till I removed it one day but some distortion somewhere caused it to pull out of true on final tightening.
Now I love the hirobo's. Good quality machines atht have been around for a LONG time. But still build issues.

I would have to say that these machines do require people that are a little capable of problem solving and have a bit of patience. As Simon points out, there are very well known brands that have teething troubles as well. I don't believe it is a good reason to stay away from them.

With a total of 5 hours of build time I am on bag #10. I have not had any issues, of course you have to indicate the fan but took 15 minutes. The shroud fits perfect, overall I am impressed with the build quality of the kit. Spending last weekend with TB and flying them all weekend I am more impressed with the flight characteristics especially after seeing a couple pros beat on them.

is pilot, sounds like your having the same experience i had. took me about 15 minutes to dial it less then thousanths. and the whole built was little over 5 hours. flys like a dream too. great machine and best of all, its a machine i would not mind working on....it was designed to be very easy to rebuild and work on.
