How about it??

Some pretty tall claims coming from the E-flight guys!!!

Any thoughts?

Well, Mr. Champeen........ I wasn't going to post about until I was actually doing it, but I'm hoping to get setup to start practicing in a few months. I'm pretty sure I'll make a setup for my LOGO 20 instead of the 10, by getting a more powerful motor and building some 30 cell packs out of much smaller, CP1300 cells. That's the beauty of doing it with an electric - there lots of battery weight/capacity not required for a sprint. My goal wouldn't be to beat the likes of you, just yet anywaty, but to just have fun and scare some contenders at local fun-flies

One question I have is.... If a guy was to show up with a LOGO 10 (just under 30 sized heli) and the regular 500mm blades, BUT more cells and a slightly larger motor, what class would it fly in? 30? Say yes

Cheers!

Is that like a 50 in a 30 class, or a 50 in a 60 class

Either way, I think the potential is definately there. Hacker is coming out with better and better motors, and companies like MEGA and Kontronic are making it cheaper for people to get into BL setups. And now there are even people wiring up there own BL motors. I'd say give it one more year and this place will me crawling with those slimer wanna-bee's

Class??????

Hmmmmmmm

Don't know??

I guess we will have to do some research regarding the AMA and FAI position on electrics in IC classes.

Last year at IRCHA one guy had a very fast Logo 20, and the decision at that time was to let him run it in the Open class.

He had something like 24 cells, but only had one pack (I think) and did not race.

When you get a E-Drag machine let me know, To win, you will have to have an E.T. from a standing start of 4.0 seconds MAX at 100 meters.

Any times greater than that won't win against the current glow machines.

More later????

Ken

Hi Tony,

I'm thinking about one of two larger Pletti motors, but I'm waiting to see how the selection of new Hacker motors looks. The problem is that the motor good for drag racing with30 cells is not the best motor for aerobatics with28 cells and the new rotor head. I'd like to try both

Can't go by the number of cells!

Well, I spoke to some folks about rules and as usual, no decision was made!!

Someone suggested running a 10 cell and a 20 cell class.

OK, then a buddy of mine brought up the new LI-XX cells

10 of them = around 30 volts under load?

Sheesh!!! now what do we do??

"Someone suggested running a 10 cell and a 20 cell class"

Hehe, that person must have been really scared of losing I wouldn't bother if I could only compete against myself.

Voltage or number of cells isn't too good because different motors have different performance can be chosen to fit a class, i.e. a huge motor on 10 cells. something that might be more accurate would be the weight of the motor, usinf documents from the manufacturer. I take it that a .30 sixed heli with a .60 in it would compete in a .60 class.

I was sorta hoping people would say, "that puny thing can't beat my .30 Raptor"

Cheers!

YUP

GMRO,

Hey dude!!

The general formula is 746 watts = 1 HP

That being said, watts derived from an electric source can be infinitely variable.

For example Watts in Kinda equals watts out with some efficiency losses.

A motor that puts out 1350 KW equals nearly a hot 50 or slow 60.

BUTT - if you run that motor on 4 extra cells, you can exceed the wattage rating of the motor by running it at greater than 100%.

Then then you need to determine an efficiency by using some kinda formula assuming Watts (power) = I squared x V and multiply that result by the efficiency of the motor.

Oh well, I guess that one of the EE's at work tomarrow will be busy doing exactly that!!!

I will post a spread sheet on what he comes up with for comment.

BTW, The SWARTZ and I are both building electric Venture Eaters!!!!
