I own an Avant and I like it but it is a bit above my flying level and I find it pitchy on the big manouvers, at the weekend I watched the Synergy fly, well 9 of them to be exact, and they were so solid in the hover especially in the high wind that we had and seemed to be locked in all the time, So do I sell the Avant and go for a less twitch, more locked in Synergy or, stick with the Avant. And yes money is the problem I would need to sell the Avant air frame

Are you sure the Synergy is more locked in than the Avant, or might it have been the pilots that made the difference?

i think it was the pilots that made it look locked in, you gotta be good to get a synergy right now

The Synergy was flow by pilots of many different standards and a couple of friends of mine have tried one and they say that the Synergy just flies so differently, talking to RussD and Duncan Osborn and both have said that the Synergy his very very good. I have also seen My Avant flown by a top pilot and he said that it is pitchy by very good on the tight manouvers

Maybe try: softer dampers, flybar weights, heavier/larger paddles etc. first? Have your setup checked out by a pro, perhaps it is a setup issue. Just some thoughts.

I running stock dampers, a short fly bar 485mm I think, stock paddles with just the brass weights in, with the stock set fly bar ratio, don't get me wrong I really like my Avant, but would the Synergy be better.

"better" is a hard thing to define. The Synergy will probably have a different feel to it than the Avant, and you may find that you like it better. If that's the case, then the Synergy would be "better" for you.

Why don't you just be patient for now. Fix up your Avant, have a good time with it and in the next few months, see how things progress with the synergy. I can't remember which head you had, but it may be fun working with the programmable head and treat the next short period as a learning time to discover what it is that makes your Avant pitchy.
Its difficult to say what would be 'better' as this is subjective and down to personal taste. From what I've seen and read, both the Avant and Synergy are tremendous machines, but each is bound to have its strengths and weaknesses and once these machines are fully available and being flown by many, then a clearer picture will emerge.
As for your flybar setup, you could try increasing the responsivness of the system by loosing some paddle weight. Might help.

I noticed in your gallery that you're using the stock Hirobo X-spec head and not the Avant Programmable Head.

In the case of the stock Hirobo head with the head mods you can get pitchiness depending on the blade/paddle combination as well as delta settings. To eliminate it simply add a couple of shims to the delta spacers and the pitchiness will go away. If you like even more stable smooth flying you can also use it in the trailing edge configuration as well as adding weights to the flybar.

Augusto.

try long fly bar, with thicker paddel, thin ones are pitchy, use one that is thick on the leading edge not a thin leading edge add flybar weight if you want to try them, all the way in then move out the weight a little every time you fly untill you get a solid feeling,

My Avant with X-Spec is locked in the hover and will be stable for upto 30 secs without input. However, for me it was a little cyclic extreme (although Steve gerrard loved it, but he's so bl**dy good)so have just softened off the settings....delta, mixer ratio and it handles superbly now. Stick with it and get help to sort it, it's a great heli and you have no need to change it.
