| Why don't you just be patient for now. Fix up your Avant, have a good time with it and in the next few months, see how things progress with the synergy. I can't remember which head you had, but it may be fun working with the programmable head and treat the next short period as a learning time to discover what it is that makes your Avant pitchy.
Its difficult to say what would be 'better' as this is subjective and down to personal taste. From what I've seen and read, both the Avant and Synergy are tremendous machines, but each is bound to have its strengths and weaknesses and once these machines are fully available and being flown by many, then a clearer picture will emerge.
As for your flybar setup, you could try increasing the responsivness of the system by loosing some paddle weight. Might help.
