dont you guys think that CX should think about the 50 size bird market as MA is comming out with a new 50 which is a high end and so is Hirobo is comming with new full carbon fiber plus metal head 50 size bird so i wish CX would do that so they can be the best in every size

Augusto has made it very clear there won't be a 50 sized Avant.

As Augusto said about a year and half ago, its not cost effective, you would be using most of the parts from the Avant so you would have a cost for a 50 size bird in the $1000 range and NO ONE will pay for that. As said befor do a search, there has been about 4 or 5 topics covering this.

I view it as a good thing that Avant will focus exclusively on the 90-size market. This bird will be refined even further as feedback comes in from the Team Pilots and from airfields around the world, and with only one size to deal with there will be fewer distractions for the tech heads as they work to keep this machine on the leading edge.

The drool factor is VERY high on this machine for good reason.

from the business point of view, i think CX should extend its range of helis, maybe just 90 and 50s. more choices for the 50 market. am sure that if Cx comes out with the new 50 size, who's not gonna want one? honestly, most of the metal components on the Avant right now arent all neccesarry. so as a cost factor, why not just use mixture of plastic and metal where needed?

Didnt Augusto said there werent any pland for the Avant complete kit as well? now Aurora. I think time will tell.

Here are the posts where I addressed a 50 sized avant conversion for an EVO.

http://runryder.com/helicopter/t206...ht=avant+evo+50
http://runryder.com/helicopter/t259...ht=avant+evo+50

In those posts I said:

"We explored that possibility but we dropped it because the problem with an EVO 50 conversion kit is that it would force us to supply a smaller version of the same parts that are used in the 90 sized avant so the costs and therefore final price to the consumer would be identical to the Avant 90. That's why we abandoned the idea of a conversion kit altogether...."
"We are not going to make an Avant for the EVO 50."

I was referring to an Avant conversion kit for the EVO-50.

It takes a lot of time, effort and a huge investment to get a new model out but we will certainly explore the possibility of a 50-sized native Avant in a couple of years.

Augusto.

Hey Augusto,

Whats the possibility of a set of Carbon Frames for the EVO 50?? I'd love a set, but I won't pay the price KSJ asks for theirs. Also, when will we get to see the vids and photos of the Aurora??

Duh - you've just proved the point that Augusto was trying to make

KSJ components are pretty darn compeditive price wise,
you ain't likely see a cheaper set
especially if they are manufactured in the USA

OK...so let me make my point a little clearer....

Perhaps in Australia, but not here in the states.

The KSJ frame set is (as I understand it) just that, the frames only without all the lovely machined parts and upgrades that CX puts together to create the Avant. The cost of the "frame set" alone from KSJ is $399 while the cost of a Carbon Xtreme Tempest carbon frame set for example is 1/2 that at $195.

I understand completely the rational of not creating all the nice machined bits that cause the price of a kit to skyrocket and I wasn't asking about that type of a package. Just the frames...nothing more than the frames. I'd happily take the EVO apart and reuse the stock componenets since they work well, I just prefer carbon frames and was wondering what the possibility of something on the order of the Tempest set was.

but thats the problem no one seems to 'get'.

The Tempest frameset works because it's all just flat
carbon and reuses MA bearing blocks and all the other goodies.

Can't do that w/ a stock Evo50. They'd have to reengineer
pretty much the entire frameset w/ bearing blocks and all the
other things that the stock frameset has molded in.

If someone really wants a carbon 50, Hirobo does offer one.

My hunch is that theres lots of talk and no money

Iam with z11355...

Yeah, Mr Green had a very nice carbon frame for the evo for sale in the classifieds and nobody jumped on that I think when it comes time to spend the money most guys will spend the money on a 90 size machine.
