Hi All,

I'm curious if you ladies are using a Sim? If so what one? I'm always on the hunt for a new model for reflex, if anyone has a pointer, shout out.

cheers,
leslie

I am using RealFlight G2 because that is what Scott (boyfriend) has and it has a trainer heli on it. It is okay, but there is nothing like the real thing.

What is Reflex? I have not heard of any other sims other than Realflight.

Hi Jetgirl,

reflex XTR is a pretty cool sim. I think you can download a trial, teaser demo. If very photo realistic and lots of great models. I've been playin with planks too.

Its expensive, both G3 and reflex XTR seem to be around the 200.00 mark.

The US distributor is Model Rectifier, google reflex xtr and you find info

cheers,
Leslie

Hi Leslie,

I still use my sim, i have the Aerofly pro deluxe, with my Evo settings i find that it is good with the heli being close but you loose all sence of what it is doing when the heli is further away from you.

Cheers

Hi Leslie, so did you get your Sim yet? I started with the G2, but now I have the G3. My boyfriend has the Reflex that I will also be downloading onto my computer. None of them are like the real thing, but they do help to practice brfore you actually get to the field. Good Luck! Lori

CSM! The whole point of a simulator is that it should be "like the real thing" and with the CSM sim you can put in the spec of your own models etc and because it was written by a physicist, its absolutely aerodynamically accurate. Maybe the graphics aren't so hot, but thats not the point.

I agree. It should be like the real thing, but it's not. Until you actually fly the real thing though, it will help to get you ready. And if you already do fly the real thing, it will help with practice. There's just something about flying the real thing that you can't get from the sim. Shaking hands and legs, the tightening of the buttocks! The sweat, and of course the queesy stomach. Sorry, just don't get that with the sim.

I worked for a while at a gaming software company that was developing a Superbike racing sim. The physics programming was done by a physicist, and it in NO WAY resembled the behavior of an actual motorcycle...

That said, I've never looked at CSM's sim, but I've only heard good things, so please don't take this as a negative comment about CSM, just about physicists...

Hi All,

Hey, VT Fly Girl!! I've been flying XTR for a year or so. I really like it. The graphics and physics are spot on.

The user interface is terrible, so it requires quite a bit of tweaking.

Cheers,
Leslie

Hi Leslie, that's really cool. I have the G3 and also the Reflex. I love them both. But you still have to admit, the rush is just not the same as the real flight. I have just started doing turns with my Tiger 50, and the shakes are just incredable. But I am so excited to be doing what I'm doing finally.

I got a chance to try out G3 and Ikarus (sp)'s sims. I liked G3 especially the way the heli would 'fly apart' when you crashed. I felt it gave me an idea what the heli would do when it crashes.

I liked Ikarus' too because it seemed more realistic too in how it could fly.

I guess it would be up to personal preference. However, like the Cocoa~cola slogan "Ain't nothing like the real thing baby." or was that Pepsi. I don't remember now. Oh well.

Hi all,

I guess the age old arguement about sims is like the boys argueing ford over chevy. whirley-girl pointed this out to me

I think if you find a sim that feels like your own heli, it's a good thing!

Cheers,
Leslie

My Sim has saved me money, that's for sure. I love my G3. It has helped me out alot. I had a chance to fly this past weekend at a Jet event. I was one of two heli's that got to fly. One was a T-Rex from Canada, and then me, the female pilot with the 50 size. I guess I did well, and impressed a few people.

I am using......

GirlFriend Ver 2.0 .... very realistic ! Allot of simulated shopping trips...etc. etc. This may sound a little crazy but....had to buy some artificial flowers the other day...very strange. I guess these simulators can get a little demanding on system resources......sometimes !.....
