e-Lite Machines Corona > 3s2p 4400 Lipo - Wich motor is most suitable?

Hi all,

Im plannning on buying a (new version) corona, and jacking it up to brushless. Also, id like to use the lipo packs ive already got laying around, wich happens to be a 3s2p capable of giving 35.2A continuesly.

Wich motor setup would be best suitable for my pack?

Ive read about the Mega 16/15/3, but they seem to take only 8 cells, and run perty hot to boot.

Ive also seen the Mega 22/20/3 being used, but that one seems to also take 8 cells, plus the amps seem a little high. Weird thing though, the one who did use this motor on a 3s2p lipo, was able to fly 25 minutes in a hover, so I guess he eighter had a HUGE lipo, or the motor isnt drawing as much as the mega motor tables make you think.

Please advice.

Mega 16/15/4 but you've probably found that out by now. Use a 13T pinion

Actually Ive given up on it because currently it was giving me flighttimes of 5 minutes and LOWER. But now that I know what setup is needed for this pack, I might considder polishing the old bird up again for a scale fuse to just hover around as a leasure heli.

Thanks for the info.

Hey! I fly mine with a 3s2p 4400 lipo with a CC 45 ESC and 3 turn Mega... I am getting 15 minutes and still have half pack left when done!

Also, this pack has made my Corona a whole different machine! I have TONS of power! You must be careful with the throttle, because too much too fast will strip the gears!!

Anyway, I will never fly anything less with mine ever again.

My Corona flys for 25 minutes on a 3s 6000 pack with a Mega 16/15/3. Motor is very warm at landing, but I wouldn't call it hot. Make sure to use a heatsink.

The 22/20/3H I have in my Eco. It is pretty big for the Corona. With the same battery in the Eco, it flys for 20 minutes. Again, with a heatsink.

Best motor and speed controller for the BT Corona CP

Just wondering what would be the best motor, speed controller and battery pack for the BT Corona CP. Thanks.

Motors

What motors are you guys using. I have the Mega 16/15/3 and I just read a report that it loves Amps. Can't seem to get much flight times so I am moving up to Lipo. I am thinking of swaping out the motor with something better. Look at the amps this motor draws.

The Mega 16/15/3 is a 3000kv brushless motor. It is regarded as one of the more capabable power sources for the T-Rex and has a reputation for delivering considerable power but at the expense of high amp draw.

19.1 amps
12.6 volts
192 watts
0.648 amp hours
6.9 watts/hour

Here is the full post on it: http://www.trex-tuning.com/mega16153.php

Any idea what I should use for my corona BT collective pitch with Lipos.

If you have to buy new lipo's go for the robbe roxxy motor on 2lipo's.
3 lipo's will be to much of the good.
It has lots of torque and runs cool on my 8.4v 3300GP ( brickstone )
And all that with the stock pinion, so you still can go bigger.
Note: you can go 5 thoot up easy, but only one down.

this is at least my corona's future path.

I have been using a Hacker C40 8L for five years now...never had a problem. I use the same pack and I also use two 2200 hextronics in parallel.

I also have a C40 12L that is a little milder and easier on th epacks. Sorry...I forgot!

I keep that as a spare....for five years!
