If this is how everybody's Corona 120 flies, I missed the boat somewhere. Mine flies okay, but not rock steady like this one....

you can make stock corona fly very smooth, but you have to be careful with balancing. not easy to do without upgrades. with few upgrades, you can make it very smooth. (7mm main shaft is one important upgrade)

the other trick is high head speed. using 2-2 or 2-4 grip can make it very stable and responsive. plus on the video, you have very capable pilot. he hides the nose up tendencies very well.

Mine is upgraded setup. (2 fixed pitch and 2 Collective pitch) and they all run very smooth and nice, responsive without any of the corona weakness. with exception of main blade (on CP version, I can run reg blade as well) very little is LMH corona though.

Askman is right on the money. It took me over a year to get head speed, vibration, flying skills and upgrades just right to yield a smooth-flying heli. One of my best times, just recently, was when I had to cut down broken blades to about 11 inches long. Those blades with 6/6 grips was like butter. I must confess: I also had a 5mm Ti shaft, all belts, aluminum rotor hub and reinforced featherplate.

I'm running 4-4 blade grips and I have the aluminum rotor hub. I just rebalanced the flybar to see if that helps. I'm getting better as I've got two weeks of flying with no crashes going so far....

I think I got lucky, mine is pretty smooth, or at least it was

I was flying today doing some FFF then flaring up with quick tail turn right back to do it again. Well at the top of a turn the pack decided if was done. I didn't notice it until it was close to ground and my attempt to add some power was futile. I was able to maintain control but the landing was pretty hard, and you guessed it...a boom strike. It was the first one I've had and it did a good job on the boom, I would say around a 30deg bend. It also took out the tail push rod. I was able to straighten the boom and exchanged the factory push rod for an inner/outer sleeve setup. As least it will bend with the boom next time and maybe I can push them both back and keep flying.

Ive heard that if you tiewrap a little collar of balsawood on the boom, you can prevent these gnarly buttslaps.

Hey..
I'm the one flying on that video, and I'm still very much a beginner
Blade grips used are 4-6. Upgrades is carbon ballraced tail boom.
Except this it's all stock, BL Hacker c40-12s and 7x2400 NiCd

I loved the Corona, super heli to learn on...

My Corona is now sold, and I've had a Trex since last summer, but I didn't like that one. It was too fast and too small, hard to see it's orientation.
Currently putting the last touch on the building of my new heli, an electric conversion of Raptor 50 V2, looks really nice..

You bastard.. Got a milkcarton or 2 to spare for a poor man like me?

A friend and I a running an AP company using a Miniature Aircraft X-Cell Ion electric 90 size heli. We run a 10s3p pack (two 5s3p packs in series), Neu Motor, and 900mm blades... Its a beast!
