Oh Albig Albig Albig...

Why trash nitros? It's just another powerplant. I like my Joker and my Eco8, but would never get rid of my gassers because of advances in battery tech. Two different animals. I really happen to like the noise, smoke and smell (not to mention so far the duration). Reliable? Well,
I've had my Murphy's Law days, but 99% of the time when I head to the field I know my nitro's will start easy and fly for as long as a tank will last. I'm more confident in that, than wondering if there's something goofy going on with my battery packs that might cause really short flights or not be fully charged up.

Noise is what closes the fields. What seems like a harmless sound or even "music" to our ears of a nitro engine, really irritates the people who are not into R/C. They b*tch about it and fields get shut down. The authorities do not "side" with the modelers, they "side" with the complaining citizens, that's the reality of things. I for one really enjoy the glow power but I also realize the potential of e-power with all the developments in battery and e-motor and future potential of flying our models just as long as glow on one charged up battery. I don't think people will b*tch about silence!

oh posh!

I fly electrics where noise is an issue, nitro's where it's not.

Well, my friend lost 2 local fields so far to noise. Our local club has been threatened many times over the years. Now they have strict rules about noisy tuned pipes and giant scale. I fly at a non-AMA field that is not a club and so far so good. Of course with electrics you have a little more freedom as you can fly them at a local school yard or a park, maybe not a joker but Logo10 for sure. I got chased away from local school yard when flying Raptor 30.

Albig.....Hey the Joker is more like an enimic 60. I have a 32 cell Joker and it wont touch my Fury YS91 let alone my 7Lb dragster with an OS 91.

Batteries are a big variable - often assumed to be a constant by newbies to electrics. I try to ask, what cells, where purchased, who assembled the pack, and by what method. Then now were they charged and with what charger. Another thing that can cause performance problems is electrical connections to the motor. Yet another thing that can "bite" newbies is the fact that electrics generally require more pitch to extract decent performance out of the motor.

Cheers!

Cheers!

That dragster will out auto anything I have seen so far. 7 Lbs and 710 blades make for some serious hang time.

Your right I dought my glow engine would run very good on the moon but then the Joker wouldnt fly either.

I like my Joker but fast it is not. It is super smoth and quiet.

Hey helinut, what blades are you running on your joker and what motor/battery setup... also what pitch range and how heavy is it??? Is it a Joker or Joker CX???

I whole hartedly agree with Albig, I've let several of the "experts" fly mine and they were impressed with the speed and control...

Joker CX 24-4 I have flowen Joker blades MA pro IIs GP9's and MAH from 680's to 710's. I also use the Schutze chargeer. I have had Jason Krause and Todd check it out and fly it. It's cool but guys quit kidding yourselves it is no rocket ship.

Hello

I know electrics can be estreamly powerful(I have a Logo 20) and that they have almost instant power when it is called for, but can a Joker CX really beat a 9+ pound Fury with a YS91 and 710's? That motor has something like 5 hp and at the line it would be spooled up to a very high RPM and angled to go forward.

And I have seen insaine Raptor 30's with a 60 in them, and they are strictly for racing. The heli weighs nothing but has insaine power.

Here is an example of one of those insaine machines.

There is no way a YS91 puts out 5hp. OS91 is rated at 2.9ps which is like 2.7 or 2.8hp. The YS91 is right around that figure as well. I think the Fury extreme is not really 9lb either, more like 10lb.

Read it. There is nothing wrong with my Joker. I Just don't have delusions that it can accelerate to 100MPH in 500 feet.

Dragster is unreal fast!

Albig you have no idea who you are talking with. Helinut knows what the hell is goin on thats for sure!!! The Joker that Helinut has is cool and smooth but the Dragster has the Joker canopy on it and an ultra light CF frame. Thats how skinney and aerodynamic it is. It has so much sling shot acceleration and top end speed you can't imagine how bad it would bury any electric heli flying now. Maybe where the human has a hard time breathing the Joker would out fly this Dragster but how often does that happen?
Seems to me the only one who is joking himself is you Albig!!!
