Has anyone here ever used a SuperTigre engine in a set of Uni Expert mechanics ?

If so, was it a straight forward install, or were any modifications required ? Did you use the stock engine mount, or did you need to fabricate your own ?

My reason for asking is ....

If the supertigre .60 / .75 fitted OK, then the Supertigre G90 should fit with no problems (their website says its the same size as the 60/75).

...Which also means the BME G90 gas conversion will fit ?

This would give all the benfits of a gasser in a set of mechs which would be great for scale use

Any advice on this would be VERY welcome !

Hello Blackhawk,

I'm not sure for the Super tigre but,
Will you get the clutch ass. on the shaft with regards to the huge carb on the gasser?
And be sure to use the Delrin gears in your uni expert

Hi Steven,

Just had a close look at the mechs, and the pic on the BME website.

I think the clearence for the clutch assembly will be OK, BUT the problem will be with the huge carb. Looks like carb will interfere with the cooling shroud way too much !

Looks like a non starter.

Hello,

What are the advantiges of gassers to the methanol engines in your opinion?
In my opinion the methanol engines have more advantiges because I run on zero nitro and a fellow clubmember bought 200litres polyglycol (synth oil) what costed about 5 euro's per litre.... And then I dislike the smell of petrol because it smels forever if you spoil it.

I wanted to get into gassers because:-
1) Less smoke - i want to install in a scale fuselage
2) lower head speed without changing gear ratio
3) fuel cost. 1 gallon of 10% nitro is £16 (approx 22 euro). 1 gallon gas (uk) £4 (approx 6 euro).

But it looks like I'm going to be staying with nitro until I can afford a benzin !
