Autoeject,

That is awesome! Glad to hear you are pleased with how your EB is flying. I thought the same thing the first time I hovered mine, " The thing is flying itself"!

I was out with mine today in pretty windy conditions, and it was just hanging like a brick!

I did a couple slow, controlled 360 rotations for the first time, and have started doing some tentative side to side forward flight manuevers.

The real kick is I have started finding the fun of "punching out" Not anything too insane yet, but it sure gets the attention of any onlookers when they suddenly hear the blades load up, and see the EB climb fifty feet in an instant.

I almost didn't fly because of the wind. I just put my faith in setup I had from following the manual. Almost dead on! I did nearly get into forward flight Just a pinch too much forward cyclic and away she went! Wouldn't have concerned me had I not been flying in a smallish area. I admit to falling victim to the 'punchout' bug myself. Man that thing can climb!

I have fallen to the punchout bug myself. Also, the 810 blades really sound great when you can get them to bark in a turn or funnel.

Awesome news, Mark!

Put some time on the engine, do your preflights, and just get comfortable with the bird and how she handles.

Any Pics yet?

LOL rkeith2

No kidding. I saw video of Chris Bergen doing an insane punch out right off the ground with the turbine.

You might as well go play with those little Estes Rockets.

Ya the turbine has some power!! What kind of head speed do you run when you do those punch outs Chris? The turbine seems like its idleing when you are on the ground.

Coming in fast with 1550 head and 810s will make you think somethings going to give way.

In normal mode, I run a 1450 headspeed. When I want to go vertical fast, I flip into idle up 1, stabilize at 1650, then punch it. I normally pull off the collective pretty quick, not because the engine bogs or the blades slow down, because that sucker's goin' out of sight fast!!

Try it sometime.....

Wow 1650. Now thats a lot of power. It sounds so quite too until those blades start bitting air.

Chris

My dad took a few pics when I was flying it for them to see. He hasn't emailed any to me that I could post. I'm still flying with the canopy off and, curiously enough, it looks just like all the other EB's on here. Seriously though, I'll post some when I get em.
Reqarding the punchouts...I'm behaving myself But it really isn't hard to get that heli climbing when you nudge that collective a bit too much.
I did fly again this a.m. after returning from a trip. Despite being a bit too windy, it handles great! I did start getting too heavy handed with the sticks so I set her down till later. Hopefully the wind with subside later so I can go again.

Just in:

Wow, that's really good to hear that the Observer is a nice stable platform and one which us newbies shouldn't be afraid of. I have some reservations about flying mine now after only having had lessons on a Raptor 50 and a Brushless 30-size Voyager.

Also great to hear that the boys at Bergen are ready to go the extra mile for us
