Are there any limits on Drag Heli's?

Nitro content?
Engine size to Frame size?
Noise output Level?

Or are these things basically unlimited? Like running an OS 90 in a Concept EP on 50% nitro A little exagerated example to really get the ole noodle going.

Kinda limits

At the IRCHA event the rules are basically designed around the engine displacement.

30 Class - 0 to .39
60 Class .40 to .69
Open Class - Run what you brung!!

There has never been a limitation of chassis size, but most guys fly a machine respective to the displacement of the engine.

This past year I had a 60 stuffed into a 30 frame, but never took it to IRCHA because it was very difficult to fly.

Most event promoters don't really limit the noise levels because Noise is GOOD at the drags. People like to hear it!!!

This is a little different in the FAI speed runs, they like it below 95 dbs.

Nitro? - I used 30%, Rumor has it that Lund uses more than that.

I have tried 50% but did not like it.

The rules don't talk about nitro at all.

Ditto that...

In fact I don't think I have ever seen an "official" set of rules. Most of the fun flys up here just take a show of hands as to who wants to drag and what size engine they are using.
Then make up the brackets from there. Most of the time up here we run 30, 60 and Unlimited with the 50's thrown in the unlimited. Maybe next year we will have enough 50's to have our own bracket. I'm sorry no 50 is going to keep up with a well tuned 90!

Check this if you have not seen it yet!!

Ck my Gallery for a couple of pics of what an OS 60 looks like in a Raptor .30

Went very fast, but was too difficult to control at speed.

It would have been legal though!!

Changes

If you look close at the pics of my R-30/60 you will notice that I changed the rotor head to one off a Fury.

Also went to the longer 4mm flybar and changed the mixing ratio on the head to allow for more stability.

This seemed to help it quite a bit.

Governor? ABSOLUTELY!!

Let me know how you make out with yours?

Which 60 did you install?

Thanks,

Ken
