I have a question about a (new) Hacker Motor I bought with no instructions. The three leads from the motor are not marked and the speed controler is marked (red, yellow, blue). I assume that the middle lead on the motor will match up with the middle on the speed controler, but will reverse polarity ruin the motor or speed controler if hooked up wrong? Any hints? thanks,
tim

Hi Tim,

Hook them up any way you want (er, one motor lead per ESC lead, hehe) and check rotation. If you need to reverse rotation , then swap any two wires. Some brands of controller alow one to change rotation with programming options.

Cheers!

Yup, the brushless motor wires often aren't color coded. First hookup to the ESC is always just a random guess. Don't worry about burning anything out. Like RC says, if it's rotating the wrong way just swap 2 wires.

Got it, Thanks you guys. I got the new motor hooked up and I even got it right the first time! Thanks for your help,, just didn't want to "toast" a new motor or speed controler by doing something dumb.

RCcoppterman,
What kind of ESC did you get? Schulze? Hacker Master Series? What? Some of these controllers have different programming options to allow you to get the best performance out of the motor. I don't know much about the Schulze controllers, but I know that the Hacker Master Series controllers have 4 different programming modes for different motors.

speed controler

Hey Paul,
I got the Future-45HE for the Hacker Motor. Seems to be a good one, but then again, I haven't had much chance to play with it. Just figured out how to do the setup and hovered one battery pack thru it. I'm not
too sure how to setup a throttle curve for this speed controler, maybe someone has some input on that. Thanks,
tim
