Audacity Models Pantera 50 - Tiger 50 > Tiger 50, I'm gonna take the plunge

I am going to buy the Tiger 50. After tons of research, I think that will be the next step up from my BladeCP.

My questions are more to do with the radio. What would probably be the best radio to go with for an entry level package. I don't know anyone else who flys RC Heli's, so matching someone elses brand to train with doesnt really matter. JR6102 or Futaba 7CHP? Neither one has governor mixing, and do I need a governor? Would a governor make it easier to fly while I'm learning? Does the radio need to have governor mixing to make the governor worthwhile? Am I going to wish I had a radio with governor mixing later on?

I think I am going to go with the GY401, the OS 50 hyper, and the "performance" muffler from Audacity. Again, do I need a governor?

What else do I need up front, and can someone reccomend a kit with a starter, starter shaft, fuel pump, etc. Thanks for all of the help. - WJH

stop worrying about governor mixing. there's nothing you can't
do w/o it.

what you WILL wish you had was that extra 7th channel. hint hint

Here is my opinion. Think about where you are going with this (what do you ultimately want to do). Buy as much radio as you can afford, if you eventually want to do 3d or whatever you will need more advanced functions. Don't worry about a governer at this point put the money into the radio (if possible 9c or 9103). 50 hyper with the Audacity pipe and 401, great choice.
Any good starter and shaft (K+S is one good choice here) One good upgrade on the Tiger is to pur on a JR Venture starter hex, it holds up better than the Tiger one. Put a remote glow adapter on the heli (revolution is a good choice here). Set up your field box with a 12V 7ah gell cell (I hate seeing people bring their lawn tractor batteries with them)
Get everything you can from your local shop (assuming they are heli friendly and there to help you when you need it). If not let me know, I stock everything you could need.

I'll admit I'm not a great pilot, but I can hover with the best of them.

Great choice picking the tiger i don't think you will be disappointed i love mine. The radio i use is the jr 8103 nice radio imo.

However,if you go with a futaba radio you will be able 2 use it with your blade also.

if you really think your going to be serious in this,
try to afford the 9C or at least the 7C.

The Airtronics 8000 is also very nice.

he CSM governor is a nice one at a nice price. $90 bucks. Installation and setup are easy. I've found that as a noob myself, it takes some amount of guesswork and fine tuning out of your throttle curve, and it makes the heli easier to fly. for normal mode I don't use it and normal mode flight I don't think you'll miss the governor much at all especially with a 401 HH gyro. It's fast enough to accommodate quite a bit of head/tail speed change. Have fun - I'm a new tiger owner and I'm loving it. !!
