Hey guys,
Could some of Avant EFX owners please share some of your set-up numbers with me?

I'm interested in a quick 3D set-up, I'm using a JR 9303 with 8311 servo's, Radix 710 blades, 95mm V paddles, YS 91 with SB16, 30% fuel. So far, on the see saw mixing arms, I went inward to the second hole positions(pictures show most outward holes being used), this got me real close on collective pitch travel, compared to my Evo 90 set-up.

On swashplate mix I'm using 60% for elev. and ail., 70% for collective pitch. I would really like to know how much cyclic pitch is needed, measured at each blade? Is 7 degrees a good starting point? I was planning on using 9.5 deg. on collective pitch, 11 for autos.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is one awesome heli, can't wait to fly it!

Yes, 7 degrees is a good place to start on cyclics. Be careful about those paddles. They'll proabably bend your flybar. Trim them down to 85mm if you want to minimize this issue.

I assume you're using the hirobo head?
The heli "behaves" much better at the high headspeeds we fly (1900) if you set up the pitch arms on the blade grips to trailing.

You'll probably end up adding collective pitch when you fly. I think most of us are plus/minus 11 degrees or so.

You'll love how much energy you have at the bottom of the auto. The machine just hangs there. It's surreal!

Neil,

He's flying an EFX with the EVO head. The flipped grips recomendation only apply to the older Freya or X-Spec head. Trailing edge on the EVO-90 head doesn't work well. The EVO-90 head doesn't have the out of tracking issues that the old head had.

I agree with you on the cyclics and pitch recomendations.

Augusto.

Thanks Neil&Augusto,
Gosh, I haven't heard of any flybar bending issues using V-paddels 95mm. I'm planning on using flybar weights also, starting at 1/2 flybar length. If the 95mm paddles are too aggressive, I'll cut them down. The stock Freya paddles with just the lead weight are 29grams, 95mm V-paddles are 21 grams plus flybar weights equal 31 grams. As with everything in helicopters, some playing around will be required to find out what one likes best!

Thanks,
Brian
