i didn't know CX made a carbon boom.

if you are using the Hirobo carbon boom, you have to use a
different boom holder than the normal one supplied w/ the Avant

I would not suggest the carbon tail boom unless it's the original Hirobo one.
I have seen a caron tail boom (some chinese copy) fail in flight causing an obvious crash...
It wasn't nice!

Boom that failed was mine :-)
I have 10 pieces of the china copies at home if anybody is still interested in them, i STRONGLY NOT advise to use the carbon boom unless is an Hirobo.

Corrado

Do you have pics of the boom(s) or can you tell us where you got it from? I have an aftermarket boom that I have yet to try.
I got mine from the link above(rcflipmaster) is that where you got it from? if so, i'll throw it in the trash tonight.

I think they all come from the same company in China (that is where i bought it). The company is the only one that i know of that makes CF for the Freya.
I wouldn't use it if it isn't Hirobo.

augusto told me that he and Ray Dog use the carbon boom after I asked about it's suitability for 3D. I have a Freya EX WC and a normal Freya and I can tell you the aluminium octagonal boom is much stronger, so what on earth do you want the carbon one, is it to save weight? Or are there other reasons?

does the hirobo tube look like a weave design or more like a graphite fishing pole?

the hirobo boom does not have the weave design. I also found that the carbon boom is not isotropic and can be crushed easier if over tightning of the boom clamps

TMoore, what do you mean by that?

Flyinrazrback, I ask again, why do you want a carbon boom?

I want a carbon boom for the looks, I ordered the hirobo carbon boom. I am used to flying miniature aircraft that is all carbon, etc, and want to complete my avant to those specs

That's odd. I ordered one from hirobonut and it came in the original hirobo sleave and lable.
