I would recommend anyone using this junk, to replace it immediately. It seems to have a VERY short life. It does not like heat, light, air, or fuel residue. I tossed four packages today ( about $50), that had turned to green liquid in a drawer, in the house. I then looked at the helicopter who's 401 was glued down with this snot, and found basically the same condition. I tried this stuff out, after reading a recommendation by a factory Bergen pilot, who's opinion I respected. Thanks, but I'll stick to the tape..... pun intended.

It seems there was a batch of it that went liquid. Where did you get it from, Al? How long have you had it?

We buy this stuff in large quantities and it soemtimes can sit in a drawer for awhile 'till it gets used up. Other than that batch I mentioned, it seems stable.

I just talked to Nathan at Ricks about buying some Zeal green stuff and he told me they did not make it anymore. I used it years ago and love it and would like to get some more. I do not think I would like to use it in my gyros...I would think it might be too thick and not solid enough...
if anyone knows where to get it please let me know.
Thanks,

I've heard the bad batch story before. Purchased several times during the last year. Two came from Tower from a long standing back order. I know some have had success with this stuff, but I'm not going to buy more, let it sit for a year, to see what it does, before using it. Thanks for the reply though.

I have been using it for well over a year know on all my ships, Two of which get flown multiple times a week, and one that has sat for about six months and the gel works great, must of been a bad batch you got?

I've got over 7 years of data on this goo. I've never had it liquefy on me, and I still have stuff stuck with strips that are more than 5 years old.

It definitely doesn't like extreme heat. Leave it in a sealed auto in the sun in mid-July and you'll come back and find your heli has been attacked by oobleck.

I've yet to have any problems with this goo, since I store my helis where it's cool. I don't use it for my gyros any more, but there are other "isolation" tasks where I'll still use a bit.

Futaba 154's! oh the good old days of non-heading hold gyro's and REVO mixing!

There was a "grease-mod" for those things as well. I remember disassembling my gyro and packing the springs with grease to reduce the bounce.

My last mechanical gyro had a motor-wire break in flight. Fortunately it was only a Nexus that was destroyed.

The consistency of that goo stuff is about the same as silicone. In my gallery you can see that I sandwich some aluminum with silicone, then stick the gyro tape on it. Works great for me. my tail is rock solid & no issues with gyros.
