As a newbie I have had my first crash. It's not to bad just a
real good boom strike. A new set of blades, grips, and a
feathering shaft. Everything else looks ok, nothing else bent
or broken. Yes it was my fault not the heli's. I'm looking at the
links and I'm not sure about them, should I replace them? They
are the links which are connected to the grips, the plastic ball
links look as if they have become out of round a little. I think
I would like to go to carbon blades, but I would need some
advise about which blade would be right for the Tiger and my
newbie style of flying or would you stay with woodies for now?
If you know of anything that I should check before I put the tiger
back together I'm all ears. THANKS

stay with woodies for now. they are capable of mild 3D despite the naysayers. They're cheaper then CF's to replace ($20 a set vs. $60+ a set).

once you get more fluent with your flying, stepping upto the CF blades will firm up the response and make it more crisp. You'll be able to be more aggressive without bending the blades much at all.

I use Aerotek 600mm woods or I occassionally pick-up 600mm woods that people sell off on the forum here.

as for the ball links, if they're not cracked, you might be able to reform them with some pliers by just giving them a little squeeze around the outside. when you pop it onto the ball, just make sure it moves freely, but doesn't have a sloppy fit and that with light pressure from your finger, that it won't pop off.

also, check your see-saw arms since they are prone to snapping. Also just make sure your tail belt is ok and didn't get damaged.

what lead to the boom strike? you loose orientation and cut the collective?

First Crash

Yes you are right but you forgot the word panic. Yes panic
set in for just a few seconds and thats all it took. Thanks for
the info and advise on the blades question.

If my blades are spin-in I'm grin-in

oh yeah, panic.. i guess that's what you'd call it when you let your heli get away from you by over the length of a football field, loose orientation and then watch it plow into the dirt from 100' up nose first...

yep, i know what that's like :P

I have never crashed my heli with any decent head speed and not bent both the Spindal and the Main shafts. If you have a dial indicatior check the main shaft carefully.
