Audacity Models Pantera 50 - Tiger 50 > first flight... vibration problem

this is the first time ive had my tiger running, and as i raise the collective up to half stick i get a bad vibration. i can see the whole heli shakeing and the fuel foaming. i also hear what i think is the clutch bell rattleing before it engages fully. is that normal? my other heli is a hawk sport, so this my first one that needs clutch/fan hub alignment.

i dial indicated the fan hub on the motor before i put it in and it had about 3 thousandths total runout, and i balanced the fan/ hub assy before i put it on the motor.

You might want to take a look at the pinion gear if you are hearing a weird ringing noise while spooling up. There is an adendum with the kit that instructs you to dissasemble the pinion from the clutch bell and use thick ca to lock the pinion in place, I used red loctite here, could have come loose. Also for the vibe double check to make sure that you didn't accidentally put an extra twist in the belt when you put the boom on. Just my $.02 worth.

i checked the pinion and its still tight. the belts good too.

i talked to john beech, who by the way is as helpful and friendly as every says, and he gave me some things to check. so we'll see what happens tomorrow

i got it purring like a kitten now. it was my dumbass fault. the headspeed was way too low, the tracking was off, and it was too rich. Put a half gallon through it this moring and its solid as a rock. I can tell already this thing is gonna be alot of fun.

btw, total run out should be 2-thousandths or less on the clutch/fan hub.. and you can also dial the clutch and start shaft if you want to extract the most perfection....but, if it flies fine now, don't mess with success
