Checking the runout made my second Tiger as smooth as silk!! No bubbles in fuel tank. The little things make big diffrences in the model heli world I see. I am a firm believer of Loctite...it works.

Loose hub nut

I think I will try to custom fabricate a key for the long hub, then as over kill add a lock nut

leroy, there is probably a reason why they don't use a lock-nut from the factory. my guess would be that either the temperature or vibration of the crank shaft would deform or crack the nylon in the lock-nut and render it useless... I could be wrong, but it's a educated guess.

A Little Blue!!!!

I have been using blue loctite on the prop nut for years...... and never a problem... you just need to add a little heat prior to trying to take it back off....And I have been flying my Tiger since May and have not had anything loosen up yet... and I don't expect anything to.....

Easy fix!!!! Stan

If there is a cure for this, please don't tell me about it!!!

Folks,

With the long hub I don't believe the nut itself coming loose is the issue. I have a locking nut, the kind that has out of round threads and the spherical bottom, you know the kind they use on Boeing airplanes... I worked for Boeing for ten years.

The problem with the long hub seems to be too small of a seating surface on the shaft shoulder. If it spins on the shaft it will rub the assy loose by removing material from the hub. I think the stock short hub with prop washer is the safest way to go and much cheaper.

Only CHANGE you'll get is what's left in your pocket.

HI Hootowl

I agree. After removing the engine the nut hasnt moved. Still locked on with locktight. For kicks, I am still going to try to make a key for the long hub. If that fails then I will need to purchase a new hub.

Thanks
