New & Emerging R/C Helicopters > Revolution - electric version

Hi guys, I'm posting this for a friend who bought an electric revolution and is in doubt about what motor/battery combo to get.
He'd like to stay with a 10s setup so my opinion, based on the setups we usaully see on the various IONX and Joker 2, is that he should be getting good performance with an Actro 24-4 or even an actro 32-3 heli version...
I'd couple that motor with a set of the new Flight power Evo 20 cells: maybe a 10s2p pack 5A or even 6.6A.

So the question is: does anybody have any suggestions or comments on the above combo?
Do you have any other options?

Is there someone who's actually flying an electric revolution?

thanks for the help!

I would love to see one of these.. I saw the nitro one a while ago
I would do the big blue Platti on 12s, it would work very well there also is the Neu motors that I am sure would work very very well but it may be a month before they hit the stores

Hi there,

With the current Actro type of motors, you won't find a fitting solution, because you have to take care of our gear with a 1:8.25 ratio. For example an actro 40-3 is to slow and a 32-3 will be to fast (rpm) for 3D flights.

We are currently testing several setups with different configurations. We are also starting to test a new exciting 12s setup next week. We want to have an economic setup which will cost not more then 500 to 600 EUR (motor & controller).
We allready tested Rolf Strecker LRK motors (also hand made in germany) combined with a special Schulze and Hacker Master 77 controller (10s1p with Kokam 3200). We reached peaks up to 3,3 kw (by approx. 85 A peaks). For example the Hacker / Strecker combo will costs under 500 EUR. The big Plettenberg is very nice but also very expensive. And if you pick also the big Schulze controller, this electric drive combo will costs more then 1100 EUR...

Next week we starting to test the 12s1p setup with the new EVO20 3700 cells and a CastleCreations Phoenix HV85 controller. If we have final results (3 to 4 weeks), we are publishing them at our website. We also expecting a modified Strecker motor for meeting the best efficiency factor by the middle of next week (we had to decrease the rpm/V).

There will be also a carbon front tray available very soon, which should be a must at a electric REVOLUTION (less weight, best cooling for the controller).

Look at this prototype pics:

Hi guys, thanks for the reply.
My friend already have a phoenix HV 85 controller so we must stay with this.
Thomas, when do you think you'll be able to give us a good combo to power the beast?
Are we talking a week or two or months?
Thanks
Iacopo

That is a very diffrent looking helicopter - is it 90 size? If so looks like a nice winter e project if 10S can be made to work well (have 10s packs already).

Finally test flown my Revolution with the YS 91, yesterday. It's a very smooth machine, felt very light, and nimble. I can't wait to have the engine broken in and doing some 3D with it.
