The point is power (V x A = power in watts) and features. More $$$ equals more power and features. If you don't need it don't buy it. If you need it then you need it.

New Triton ZX Charger coming soon.....

Does anyone have any information on the new Triton ZX Charger that is coming within the next month or so?

I know it isn't cheap and hopefully will have alot more features then the current Triton which has been reduced in price to $85.00!

What I am hoping for is a charger that will work well without any updates needed....and if an update
in the firmware is needed - be able to do it via a simple PC download via the web. Wouldn't that be nice?

The website says "picture coming soon!" - but it has said that since the middle part of last year!

Info on the Triton ZX......anyone.....pictures???

Is this Triton ZX project top secret????

Waiting to decide whether to buy a Thunder Power TP-1010C or the Triton ZX. The TP-1010C is supposed to have an upcoming firmware update so that it can charge Ni-Cds and Ni-MHs. Who knows maybe even
PB acids will be supported?

Top Secret?

Hmm, I just discovered the T-ZX on Tower's site today. I had no idea it has been in the rumor mill for close to one year. But doing Google searches turns up very little other than its release to the public has been delayed over and over. The new date of availability is late June '07.

I hope this charger is going to take advantage of the alternate Li-Ion cell technology used in the A123 cells. Many cordless tool makers are using these and this will bring the prices down for those fliers not needing the highest performing but instead cheap power sources. Very fast (3C?) charging too.

As I understand it, the cell charge completion voltage for the A123 chemistry is 3.6 instead of 4.2V for Li-Po. Not many chargers have this capacity...yet.

Will GP wait for the possible rise in popularity of the A123 packs before burning the T-ZX ROM with the charge parameters or make firmware updates available post sale?

Inquiring minds NEED to know.

This is a great charger for upto 4 cells:-
http://www.fmadirect.com/Detail.htm...2193§ion=45
It balances the batteries while charging and is the best bit of money I've spent on RC equipment. I've had 1 Schulze 330 and 2 936s which are very good units but this Cellpro and the BalancePro chargers really make charging and balancing simple less time consuming.

If u don't want to spend much, and need lipo charging only for 2-4S, the FMA CellPro is excellent!!

If u need MORE, go w/ the TP 1010c and 210V combo, I have both, plus a Triton w/ Equinox.....the TP wins hands down, of course, however, the FMA CellPro is awesome, charges @ 1.4C and does a great job, plus it's by far the easiest to use.....

I was a sucker for lipo's since they have been available, just gotta love 'em......just be safe whatever you choose

I was hoping to get this topic restarted and get more recent data. I personally tried the following chargers, would really appreciate any other feedback from members:

Schulze 330d - excellent charger, a bit pricey but worth the money. i really like the way it slows works up to full charge rate, and slows down as the pack gets almost full

TP 1010 - Personally, I like the Schulze better, but this is a really good charger too

DN charger - inexpensive, but balance charge capability is great, i wish some of the higher end chargers would do this

TP 535
- not very impressed by this charger. although it has capability to charge up to 5s (amp supplied decreases at higher cell count). for 3s it might be an excellent charger though

look forward to others' experiences (i.e. xtreama, MRC, etc)

The Bantam e-Station series is very good. The BC-6 is capable of operating on both AC and DC power in addition to having a built-in balancer and capable of charging up to 6 cells.

The BC-8 also has a built-in balancer and can charge up to 8 Cells, but is DC power only.

There are more models in the line, but these seem to be the more popular.

I hope that helps...

hello Lipo Stuff,

does the bantam chargers slowly ramp up the voltage/amps at the start of the charging process and slows down again as it peaks towards the end of the charging cycle?

can you also monitor each cell (i.e. volts, amps)?

thanks ...

You might as well take a look at Hyperions new offerings. http://media.hyperion.hk/dn/eos/ We should have the EOS0606i instock in a couple of weeks. The the other to follow in a month or so.

Hello,

Yes, the Bantam chargers ramp up the voltage and stay at a constant current during the beginning of the LiPo charge cycle. They do so quickly compared to something like a Triton, which takes quite a bit to ramp up.

Once the pack reaches the right voltage (12.6v for a 3S) the voltage remains the same and the amperage drops off until it gets down to 0.2 or 0.1 Amps.

This method of charging is known as CC/CV which is the standard for charging LiPo cells in addition to a few other types.

The charger displays the total power (mAh) placed back into the pack in addition to showing pack voltage and the voltage of the individual cells when using the balance adapter.

Please let me know if you have any other questions..
