Ok I followed the specks on the other post for the 9c setup. This was a good start. The pitch/throttle curves still need a lillte work, but I can't figure out how to get the gyro set right. I works ok on the stock radio, but with the 9c it is either too high and the tail wags or too low and the tail swings too much and is loose.
I take it the gyro settings on the 9c will not control the 4in1 gyro becauce of the manual pot adjustment. If this is true and the 9c can not change the gyro what rudder settings do you use to get the tail back to normal. end points? dual rate percent? pot rate on 4in1?
Thanks.

I am very new to RC heli ... so keep that in mind

The Gyro setting in the 9c will not work with the 4in1. First you need to make sure you set Revo to INH (let the gyro do the work). Then set your rudder trim and subtrim to 0. Set the gyro to a high gain. Now use the pot on the 4in1 to center the gyro so that the nose does not turn much. If you are getting tail wag, reduce the gyro gain untill it goes away. If you have a decent amount of time on the blade already, you may want to replace the tail motor. These motors get fairly weak after they have been used for a while. I am thinking about going direct drive with mine but I dont fly my blade as much anymore.

The important thing is to get the gyro setup while your rudder trim and subtrim are at 0. Also remeber that the 4in1 gyro is a low end gyro. I never knew how bad it was till I got my Trex with a GY240 .. that tail holds like I was flying in a sim!

But remember, the fancy gyro costs as much as the whole Blade CP does,,,,,,,

but as for the tail conversion, I did mine last night.

It took about ten minutes using the new style tail fin with direct drive motot mounting area. The directd rive motor bolted right in and the prop came with an adapter to stick it on the motor shaft.

Motor faces to the right of the chopper, blade faces left and should be assembled with the round side of the prop to the left on the shaft.

Worked fine right away.

It does make a different noise, louder but not real obvious.

Cost was less than twenty total.

Also, the wires need to be soldered black to red and red to black, at least for the motor and prop I bought.

How does it fly with the tail mod ?

Honestly my biggest complaint with the blade has been the tail. The main thing I didnt like about it was the delay when it has to rev up when you quickly increase throttle.

I am kind of new to the hobby to be offerring help to others,,,

but I feel it is quicker to react than the gear drive prop setup.

Larger props and gear drives are the new norm for my 'other' business, which is ultralights. But the inertioa of the prop is a factor too. The smaller prop offers much speedier rev-up and thus better control.

The tail doens't seem to waiver as much as with the gear drive.

You can't beat the larger props for power/lift. But they are a bit slow in response for sure.

I did like the ease of the installation and the overall effect.

I have two Blades, a used one and a new/used one.

I did just try some wooden blades and they also seem to be an improvement over the very light balsa stock flat blades.

I'm running Thunder 1320's, stock motor and pinion with training gear, still.

Tried a bit of free flight last night. Did Ok until I got chased down by the Blade. Saved it twice but not the third time. Even the training gear parts went flying ! Broke a gear leg hole off the frame so had to rebuild it last night.

Nice to have a good parts supply.

Modified Blade

I realize this has nothing to do with the 9C, but since we've drifted over to talking about tail motors, etc, thought it would be of interest.

I went separates on my Blade from the beginning. After burning out both the original geared tail motor, a GWS DD motor, and a HF100-256 tail esc I decided I would go brushless and end the problems once and for all.

Here is the mods done to my BCP. The final list of equipment includes:
Himax 2015-3600 motor w/10 t pinion
Telebee gyro
GWS 6 ch rx
Three HS-56 servos
Two CC P10 esc's
CD-ROM tail motor with Gunther prop

Empty weight is 271 grams and flying weight is 356 grams. Flys 19 minutes on an 1100 mah battery.

Here is a pic

The CD-ROM tail motor was taken from a dead CD-ROM reader and modified with new magnets and windings. This motor does two things: controls the tail exceptionally well, and never needs any sort of maintenance. I realized this isn't the easiest solution but it is sure effective.

Sorry about the attachment link...looks like this forum won't let me post the whole link....and since it isn't Monday, I can't load to my gallery?

If you're really interested, you can see the pics in RC Groups, Micro Heli forum, under a thread titled: Horizon Hobby Blade CP X-Treme Mods, on page 3.
