I've been flying my Blade for about 3 weeks now. Wow will this thing make a pilot outta ya!! I flew my Raptor for about 2 years then got busy and didnt find time to fly for 1 yrs. This thing makes me see just how lazy a HH gyro makes you. I haven't moved the flybar weights, but it is just a lot tougher to fly than a .30 size nitro. Anyone else have Blade-Shock when switcning from Nitro to Micro??

It definately gives you an appreciation for the bigger helis... I'm using mine to master FF so I don't pile my venture 30 in again... it's a lot easier to learn when I don't feel like I'm gambling with $500 worth of heli!

Honestly this is a great little machine - I hd a Dragonfly before this (my only other micro heli experience) and the Blade was WAY better than the DFly... that thing almost drove me insane, as tough as it was to keep operatonal, let alone flying . So having the extreme expereince on both sides of the coin gives even more perspective on just how great a flier this is for a micro heli - I think it's great that something like this exists that makes it relatively easy to get into R/C helis without the big investment that glow and gas require.

Yup.. Rap50 -> Blade I eventually got the hang of it though... I still end up losing the tail in forward flight though... spins like a roulette wheel... where it stops is anyone's guess, and I just have to hope I like the new orientation. It's an experience for sure.

Made my TRex seem super tame by comparison though. I suspect if I ever get back into Nitros it's going to seem too easy.

I'm following in your footsteps, Mad. I'm starting FF and the BCP is great for that. It's actually become my sim. I can step outside and try whatever I want to work on. If I pile it in, I might be out $25 and that includes new blades. This approach isn't going to endear me with Thunder Tiger as I won't be buying quite as many replacement parts though.

The only time that I have ever seen a tail "let go" was out at IRCHA 2002. One of the TT guys had a Raptor with the tail blades cut down for drag racing. It was kinda scary looking. I've flown my Blade as fast as it will go and it gets more solid the faster it goes. Of course I have some improvised fins that add to the weathervane effect to keep the tail out back where its easy to work. Maybe that's the secret.... to create some additional drag on the tail boom. Anyway, this little thing never ceases to amaze me and never fails to keep me smiling just to watch that little yellow canopy hover around the lawn!!!

Yeah, as long as I have enough speed it'll hang out back.. its when I slow for turns. Probably all pilot error.. so not so much "losing the tail" as forgetting the tail won't fly itself.

I have been flying my Raptor 30 for a few years and progressed pretty slowly. I finally got into FF and have been flying 2-3 years. What got me into FF was my Hornet 2. I have since upgraded to a MaxiR and I love it. Poor little heli has been crashed a few times because I tend to try stuff that I wouldn't even consider doing on my Raptor. I think once I go back to the raptor all the micro flying will make my flying style a lot smoother. Found out they don't like nitro helis being flown in the dormatory courtyard so I am flying my micro there few packs a day
