| There seems to be a lot of speculation regarding the tested and confirmed set ups we recommend. I can assure you we have spent many countless hours testing the Blade CP set ups we recommend. There is no problem with running the motor continuously for 10, 15, 25 or even 40 minutes using the set ups we recommend - I have done it for well over 100 hundred flights on some Blade CPs and still have yet to burn out a single main or tail motor. The motors do not get hotter and hotter the longer you fly - they will typically reach a peak temperature at which they will remain for the duration of the flight. When set ups are properly configured, utlizing the optimum power band for a given motor, brush wear is the only thing that you have to worry about in regard to motor life (temperature related motor failures are only an issue if using set ups we do not recommend or stalling the motors in crashes). You may be suprised how long the brushes last when a motor is operating in a proper performance range.
The stock Blade CP set up is extremely efficient - it is possible to fly for upwards of 10-12 minutes on a single charge with the stock NiMH packs when using a peak detection charger.
Using the Aerobatic Enhancement Kit and a 3S 1320mAh Thunder Power pack, flight duration is upwards of 25+ minutes with ease (not all 1200-1320mAh packs are created equal - some deliver less performance and duration. As many say - Buy cheap here and buy twice). This is with a 9T pinion and symmetrical main blades.
Using an 8T pinion with flat bottom main blades will deliver durations of 35+ minutes. Think combined efficiency of the stock set up and the AEK set up. |
