actually there is a complete conversion set for the CH46 which i got the set ... it includes everything you need to convert the stock kit to 3 blade heads. Well... except for the blades

That set includes:
2ea Head blocks including screws, spacers, bearings and set screws
6 ea Blade holders
2 ea Rotor shafts (they are shorter and have flats machined where the grub screws engage that hold the head)
2 ea anti rotation arm
6ea pitch links
2 ea swash plates that use the base of the stock swash and an ally inner ring that has the 120° holes for the 3 pitch links (so basically a plastic ally hybrid swashplate )

IRC that set went for approximately 95€ and then you need 2ea set of blades for 35€ a pop.

SO it's really quite an expensive upgrade... but i never looked back, the heli flies better too.

and IMO if they now sell the kit rght away with the 3 blade heads that just makes perfect sense..

EDIT: just had a look and the kit with the 3 blade heads is just about 40€ more than the stock kit.. considering that the UPGRADE costs 160€ on top of the stock kit i'd rather go for the one including it...

As for stable hover... well this is the most stable hovering bird i have... especially when flown indoors you can literally set your transmitter down an walk around it to make photos (seen Petr Novotny do just that at an indoor funfly)... if setup correctly that is but that holds true for any heicopter that i know.

Hi Meatbomber,

I am ready to try the 3 blade head upgrade on my CH46, I have searched everywhere and cant seem to see it as a complete kit, have you a URL for the site where you got your kit from?

Cheers, Ken

Hi Ken,
you can get it direktly from MS Composite
http://www.mscomposite.com
, look in the shop there you can find it.
Or in Germany at RC City
http://www.rc-city.de
In that shop look for "Hornet/Seaknight" and then "Hornet Zubehör". The first two items are the 3 Blade head for the CH 46, itenm one the 2 Heads and item two one "pair" of blades.

Meatbomber, if your still planning on a Columbia Helicopter paint job I have photos of both old and new style paint schemes, some company prints of the new paint scheme. I live just 20 miles from their home base, emailed them about my scale project and was given a tour of the facility. Be glad to share what I have.

CH-46

I am a Marine CH-46 Crew Chief currently stationed in Iraq. I also fly RC helis. I will soon be buying the Hirobo CH-46. I am interested in putting lights in it. Since I can walk outside and take pictures of the real aircraft I want mine to be as correct in scale appearance as possible. Can anyone tell me how or where they got their lights from? I can also take pictures of CH-46's configured for combat operations if anyone is interested.

Mine are all made from little SMD Leds... got them from a big electronics supplier here where you can get all kinds of electronic parts...

They are driven by a IC controller that a friend of mine made for me..

Hi,

I dont think any of us have found a CH47 Fuse for this scale, I am having fun trying to make the mechanics fit a 1/35th model kit which is a good deal smaller -
