Had an interesting encounter with a bird the other night while flying my Honeybee 2...

Was at the field doing slow sloppy figure 8's at about 50 feet when a group of about 3 or 4 birds (looked to be blue jays) happened to fly overhead. One of the jays broke away from the others and proceeded to make 3 or 4 close aggressive type passes at the heli, luckily never making contact. Cant say for sure who would have won that battle, but i have a feeling the jay wouldnt have fared too well against those 2000+rpm rotor blades!

Anyone else had a similar experience they would like to share?

Take Care!

Almost every time I'm in the backyard flying at dusk, our local Swallow population come to play tag with my helis. So far no feathers have flown.

I've never had Bluejays attack my heli. I have however had them attack me for getting to close to their nest. They were dive bombing the top of my head a screaching. A blue jay can be pretty mean if provoked. Bats do swarm around my heli at night. I keep waiting to chop one up.

I had a friend whos Hummingbird got taken out by a very large bumblebee (ironic).

It came down through the blades and the heli went in... A 'Jay vs a Blade would be game over for both probably...

I have dragonflys chasing me all the time here in NorCal...

All of the local birds run away when I fly my helis in the yard. But there are these little moths that always follow the heli around. And the wild part is they follow the rotor disk and occasionally fly through it! Not sure what they're after. Usually they make it, but every so often I have to clean them off of the blades.
