e-E-Flite Blade CP CX 400-3D > Better Direct Drive Tail using GWS EDP 50

I was visiting a site in AU where I got my Trex CCPM conversion to order up another one, for another Trex project.

Well anyhow while I was there, I noticed they have a better direct drive tail conversion for the BLADE style helis using a GWS EDP 50 and GWS Direct Drive prop. They claim nearly unlimited life.

They have a video of it flying on a Hummingbird showing awesome climb outs with the tail holding dead straight.. They are available now, apparently have been available for a year :-)

They were running seperates of course. I am not sure if the 4 in 1 can handle the EDP 50, but I will be picking one up for my BLADE and will report back the results... Other people have used EDP50 for tail on the Blade 4 in 1 so I hope it will be good to go...

Sorry if this was posted before...

The EDF40H or 50H are the "high voltage" models recommended for 11.1+ volts

(Edit) Oops, thought you were talking about the EDF (ducted fan) tails. Though I suspect the issue from Boyd's thread above is a similar problem.

Thanks Boyd....

Yeah - those guys in that thread say that using a 4.5x3" prop may be bad mojo on the motor. The kit from AU uses a 3x2 or 3x3" GWS prop.

Just set up my blade with the direct drive motor using the smaller prop. First flight was a great experience, love the responce of the tail, but the tail fin is flimsy I beefed it up with two carbon rods and wrapped it in dental floss and put some ca to it.
