I see you've done some repairs. Funny thing is, I have all the parts to complete that heli to new condition. If you were in the US, I would be more apt to bid on it.

Shipping to the US is about $40, probably less. If you are interested, I can check it (you can PM).

In fact, I can get a brand new in box kit of the Space Baron 30. Anyone into it?

Anyone have a muffler that will fit a Kalt Bason 30S
I would prefer the little "sausage type" over the heliball.

Last part to have this ready for IRCHA

Thanks

Just remember -- if the world didn't suck, we would fall off.

Kalt Cyclone Baron 60??? Help

Hi, I just bought a Kalt Cyclone Baron 60 size heli.
Would like suggestions. Its got a enya 49 engine.
Servos and old radio. An airtronics Module Heli transmitter.
Its not been flown in a long time. Its like a time capsule.
the batteries are not leaking. I'm sure the radio is not going
to be any good. I've not tested it yet. This was an estate sale.
I would like some information on it. Its in excellent condition.
Anybody that can help leave comment or email me at jbfly@triad.rr.com

I thought about upgrading the radio to something new and giving it a go. I'm an airplane guy, but could not resist the Heli.
Thanks
Jack

i would change the servos , std servos will be ok as you will never want to 3d a vintage machine , fit a good gyro(as you don't fly helis there's no point in making life harder for yourself), strip the engine and clean it before trying to start it, replace the battery and switch also the receiver and replace the main blades
strip and check the whole machine and replace any worn/seized bearings, check/replace the ball link ends, change all the fuel lines
once it is all back together get a good heli pilot to check it over and test fly it.
vintage helis are not the best to learn to fly on as you can not get the spares
good advise would be to buy a second hand raptor/sceadu/hawk etc to learn on and then fly the baron

STILL TICKING after three years

i am glad to see that this topic still lives on.... it is going on three years!! it is great reading about the different kalt models that everyone is still flying. that says something about the fine machines these truely are.....shame that they closed up shop. just imagine what they might have come up with in these modern times of helis. i think that if they chose to stay with a better line of helis, they would probably be up there with VARIO QUALITY. thanks to all..............................larry

jbfly: Based on the Enya 49 engine, my guess is you have either a Cyclone or a Baron 50. These are two different helis, not one and the same. A Baron 60 would/should have a 60 sized engine.

The way to identify them is the Cyclone will have black plastic frames and black plastic rotor head while the Baron 50 will have silver metal frames and black metal rotor head. The Baron was the more expensive of the two. Also, they each have different style canopies if it is still original. If you have the instructions, this will clarify which one you have.

I agree with the advice of Payne1967, you need to tear this down, clean it, replace worn or damaged parts, rebuild it, and update the radio gear and do not try to learn on it because parts are difficult to come by, but can ocassionally be found on RR or Ebay. Get something newer to learn on. Good luck with it.

jbfly,

I had a Cyclone in 1986, it had the 'K1' head (which was metal)on it which was prone to nodding in the hover. They then brought out the 'K2' which had a thicker crossplate and it cured the problem. The crossplate was your feathering shaft and damper all in one. Tail belt drive but without teeth on the belt, keep and eye on the tension but I never had one slip. Great machine, tuff as old boots. I you are unsure if it is a Cyclone, send my a pic, I will confirm.

I would replace all the electronics although I still fly my Baron 60EX from from the same era with the old mechanical style Dual rate Futaba 152 and it's great, you just can fly backwards and sideways at speed. When flying around though it a bit easier as you don't have to fly the tail so much, 'secondary effect of roll' and all that!!!

If there is soil going over the canopy, you're too low!

Kalt Baron?

New to Helis, Just bought a Kalt Baron from a neighbor and am finding out how rare these birds are. Not quite sure what model I exactly have though, thought it was a .60 but it only has an OSX28 in it. How do I tell? The clutch is black plastic gear, and the rotor head is all aluminum. Looks like the kit came from Circus hobbies in Vegas, as thats what the stickers say on the old JR Propo Transmitter.
I hate to start flying on this thing as it is immaculate. This bird has never been flown! Everything is perfect and strait. Any suggestions or idea how much it's worth? Id rather get a raptor and send this to a good home if Im just going to trash it. I have atleast 30hrs on the G4 simulator though?
My 2 issues now are:
Some of the linkages for the throttle and tilt are missing from the servo's and second, some of the ball linkages up to the rotor head are bent possibly from storage. Is it true the linkages for blade tilt should all be strait, and can I use any kind to replace?

My last question, will any Kalt enforcer parts work on the Baron, and are any .30 and .60 Baron parts interchangable?
