Just follow the directions on my site shamoo. You'll be safe. Just make sure that the heli is level (ie the nose is not too far down - else you'll probably dive). Rolls are pretty easy. The problem I had was getting the stones up to actually try one, once I tried one, it was easy!

If you use a sim it's pretty close, just make sure the heli is balanced and expect a corkscrew on the first one you will have no problem just "ease" off the collective with just a touch of neg. and go in the direction your most comfortable with

Do your nerves a favor and pull up about 30 degrees and THEN do your first roll. If you forget to put in the negative half way through, you at least won't be flying straight toward the ground.

make sure heli is balanced. you don't want your machine to cock screw half way through the roll because your tail is too heavy.

The only problem I had on my first roll.. was I did pitch up before rolling, and it did do a barrel roll (Cork Screw) When I came right side back up the heli was now tail down now flying backwards heading for the ground. So then I got it up high and flew right to left in a slight decent and then rolled, then I either came out level with no backward worries, or if I did it right I was still desending with enough altitude to spare. Just a thought.

This is what I am thinking when I do a roll.

Have plenty of forward speed to carry you through the manuver. Be at least 100ft up. Fly with the wind to help carry you through. Just before you start the roll, level the helicopter and input slight positive collective to lift the bird, then go to 0 deg collective. Start the roll by giving it full right or left aileron, which ever you prefer. When the heli goes inverted, (if) you are loosing altitude, input slight negative collective to lift it again. Return collective back to 0 as you come out of inverted. Continue to hold full aileron until you are upright again. You just did a roll. Congradulations!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shammy,
Come out to the field and we will show you how to do it. No big thing, you'll be able to do it...

Ditto Danforce's suggestion. I learned that trick from a veteran plank flyer to try your first roll while the heli is ascending, even though you will corkscrew, at least the heli is going up, not diving which is a heckuva scary experience if you're not prepared.

Also, you can try the time-multiplier command in G2 to slow down time so you can practice transitioning from positive to negative pitch while doing the maneuver.
