trying to install the MJP ducted tail assembly... what's the best way to install it?

i'm not sure i should just glue it straight to the boom, or if i should modify the existing tail assembly so i can attach the CF one to it.

the picture looks like he just zip-tied it to the boom but that's absurd

any advice please?

2 zip ties and a drop of CA will get you there. Not so absurd after all

Where

Where did you get that ducted tail fan and how well does it work?

Thanks

i got the fan from horizon
i got the CF tail assembly from mjp carbon

i flew it for probably an hour today - i LOVE the results so far. not having to worry about that tail prop hitting things is a real treat for a noob like me. I believe this fan is also a lot more accurate / smooth than the prop. More predictable tail movement (or is that because i'm getting better at flying the thing... not sure)

instead of removing material from the tail boom i balanced the heli by putting a big heavy washer on the nose.

obviously there's a slight weight issue now - the heli is like 2x as heavy as stock. so the battery died fairly quickly (maybe 4 minutes of flying; didn't time it). But it did fly very well.

I was going to wait longer to install the ducted tail until i got more comfortable flying with the stock tail. but due to the stock motor burning out, i figured what the heck.

so take my comments with a grain of salt. but i feel much more comfortable having 1 less thing to worry about - mowing the lawn with a tail prop.

Does the ducted fan have more thrust than the stock unit? I am going to change the placement of the stock pack in my unit to the landing skids. I have them on the training gear now and it really helps the stability for me as a uber newb. So maybe for the ducted fan set up I would just move the stock pack on the gear way forward.
