What is the most effective way to go seperates on the Blade? Preferably a HH gyro while keeping cost to a minimum. Any recomendations or info will be helpfull.

Cheapest way would be to stay with brushed motors... so you'd need:

* Modify the 4-in-1 to use just the Rx, or buy an Electron 6 or Berg 5/6 ($60)
* CSM-200 HH gyro ($90)
* CC Pixie 20p ESC for main ($35)
* CC Pixie 7p ESC for tail ($30)

So you're looking at $155-$215 ... and that just gets you HH. If you want to go brushless, replace the ESCs with Phoenix-10s for $60 a pop, and add a Feigao on the tail ($40) and your choice of brushless main for $70-$150... pretty soon you've put $450 of electronics onto your $200 heli, and you should probably be looking at a TRex instead.

I wanted to go separates on my blade right up until the day my TRex arrived. Haven't looked back since, and I still enjoy the Blade for what it is. Just my $0.02 though.. if you've got some cash to burn and you want to see what the Blade is capable of, the list above should get you started. Also, Boyd-Hoverup has a super-blinged brushless Blade in his collection.. might want to ask him for some advice.

One final thing that might be worth investigating is a "2-in-1" unit I saw at my LHS recently. Sounded like it has the ESC and Mixer, but no gyro or receiver... it was selling for $35, so that might save you $30 or so.

100% agreed.....with 25 minute flight times and decent aero available with the lithium/motor upgrade....i dont see the cost benifit of pushing this thing further....at most I would do the 2 in 1 with HH , but probably in the future when the HH price comes way down for the cheaper gyros.....i still say it flys fine with the rate gyro, and you WONT be doing choas, or fast backwards flight in this thing....

Putting brushless would be silly for the cost involved (2x motors, 2x ESC) because all you would end up with is a few cabon fiber stix with a plastic canopy that can climbout at 50 feet/second, lol.....you can get a trex kit for 120 bux in the classfieds, and with the stuff above you already have bought the most expensive items to get it in th air, lol.

> Modify the 4-in-1 to use just the Rx,

That would be really easy since the 4-in-1 has two circuit boards in it; one of which is a good 'ol 6-ch receiver.

Another possibility...

It would be 100% possible and rather easy to pull out just the rudder channel from the 4-in-1 and use a seperate gyro and ESC for the tail. That would get you HH on the tail for about $120 (based on JiggerInc's prices).

Heck, with a little more looking, it may just be possible to feed a seperate gyro back into the 4-in-1 although I'm not sure it would work as well as a seperate ESC and it would only save you $30.

Personally, I'm seriously disappointed with the stock gyro. But, then again, I'm a "spoiled" nitro/gas heli pilot who has "grown-up" on HH and hasn't flown a lick on rate mode until this Blade.

I found this http://www.rc-universe.com/forum/m_...e_2/key_/tm.htm that I believe is the first mention of the mod (scottyfusion). I think RR breaks this link, so remove the hyphen from between rc and universe. I've seen some subsequent posts here on RR. Basically if you open the case it should pretty obviously look like two devices sandwiched together. The side with the servo connections is a receiver, and the other side is the gyro/mixer/esc ... internal cables from Ch3 and Ch4 connect the two. So you'd want to disconnect those, and heat and push through the pins for Ch3 and Ch4 so you can send them out to your own Gyro/ESC...

Let us know how it goes.
