e-E-Flite Blade CP CX 400-3D > Need charger cable part number?

Have a Blade Helicopter and have been very impressed with it. Trying to do the Li-Po upgrade thing but I'm new to the Li-Po stuff.

Got the E-Flite Celectra charger. Decided on a Thunder Power THP13203SJ 1320 mah battery. But, that battery got discontinued and replaced by a THP1320-3SJPL battery (At least, I think that's the replacement). So that is the battery I got from my LHS. The problem is that that battery does have the JST connector to go to the heli, which is good. But it also has a "4-pin balancer connector" which I assume is the way that the battery should be charged.

Is there an E-Flite or Thunder Power cable that has the 4-pin balancer connector as well as the banana plugs to go to the Celectra charger? Is that the best, safest connector to charge with? Or do you just hook up the JST connector that the Celectra charger came with?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I got the TP 1320 pack too, and I had the same question. I called TP and asked them about that 4 conductor balancing connector. You don't have to use it. Connect the JST to your charger and go. It would be best to have a balancer, but the rep at TP told me it isn't required to charge the pack.

k0tbt - Whether they say you need it or not, it's pretty lame that TP doesn't offer a connector that matches the balancing connector on their batteries. Why bother putting the balancing connector on the battery to start with?

Yea, I can charge them without the balancing connector but if I want to do that, I can get the batteries from GWS for $15 less. It's just stupid.

A day before I posted the question on RunRyder I had emailed Horizon Hobby about the Thunder Power Balance Plug. Today they responded that the Balance Leads have a Thunder Power proprietary "Balance Plug" installed which works with the THP205 balancer. Use of the balancer is optional and not required, but the balance plug and leads do offer access to the individual cells for balancing if the user feels it is necessary to balance the pack.

They said no special charger or charge plugs are required, just use the JST connector or whatever connector a user chooses to use.

Good response from Horizon. Now I just need to find time to get that battery charged up and the parts switched out for the Aerobatic Enhancement Kit!

Thanks!
