| Famous Last Words In AviationAs a commercial pilot, I take aviation saftey deadly serious. We cannot lul ourselves into complacency and take every effort to make our jobs safer. I deal with rules and regulations and the people who enforce then on a daily basis. I gladly oblige.
I got into R/C helicopters to get away from rules and regulation. I am what some people classify as a "rogue flier". I have no club affiliation and I like to fly by myself or with a couple of buddies. I snicker at those that try to organize a club that is intended to get a group of people together with the same interest, then it evolves into a monster that regulates our hobby like a branch of the federal government. I have no need for those who institute rule after rule in order to protect idiots from themselves and others or helps them endulge in their own self gratitification and political bickering.
I fly alone, I need no rules, just common sense. I am a soul seacher, not a power hungry puny brain that justifys my own existence by telling others what to do and when. This is my leisure time and I will do with it what I wish. In my years of flying, I have not so much as knicked the flesh from my knuckles. My only injury, sunburn and racoon eyes. I can credit this record to never uttering the words "hey watch this." or "I saw this in a cartoon once, I think I can do it."
I'm in this hobby for the fun, not the politics. So what if a guy tears up a heli or himself doing something dumb. Three words will fall from my mouth; "good work dummy!".
My point is, Our hobby is dangerous to some degree. Flying in the presence of spectators is kind of like playing frisbee with a circular saw blade. If you are not careful you or someone else will get hurt. Do you really want to throw a saw over the heads of spectators, how about your buddy throwing it in your direction? Do you really want to catch it? I don't. I want to be as far away from any of that activity as possible |
