guess we learn a lesson? if you're going to a multiday funfly / 3dm get theft insurance first.. then again that could be quite expensive

Let me get this straight. These four well upgraded helis with top quality gear were left overnight in the back of a people carrier on full view in a hotel car park. Please tell me l`m wrong.

I was just wondering if UK had laws against bringing model helicopter in your hotel room without fuel?

thats the way i understand it, and unless the top quote has any merit, im surprised it has taken this long to get to the fact they were in a car overnight.

defintley not their fault, but there is a reason that in the USA at least, most parking garages have signs that say the hotel/airport/shopping mall assume no responsibility for stolen or damaged property.

if the people that took these helicopters knew what they had, i doubt theyd try to see them whole, unless theyre plain stupid.

if they didnt, they will be on ebay soon enough, or at a pawn shop etc.

edit: and i CANT IMAGINE a hotel not having security cameras, even in their parking garage or lot. that would be a shame if there is absolutely NOTHING to go on =/

Some laws are made to be broken. Those who write the laws are not interested in the consequences of their acts.

I was gobsmacked to hear this this morning and annoyed I didnt turn up earlier saturday as I might have got the chance to see you fly again.

I expect that these were just typical opportunistic thiefs cruising the carparks and thought to themselves that they look like a few quids worth lets have em.
I would not be surprised if they attempt to fly em and crash or they end up at a car boot fair etc. They probably havent even heard of you guys.
Is there a petrol station near by? they will have cctv, maybe they fueled up.

Best of luck & on behalf of the uk, apologies.

Alan and Danny,

After such a good day on the saturday i was shocked to see your car in the carpark. The rain that poured today on the last day of 3DM was a good indication of how everyone was feeling after hearing your bad news.

i hope that the people responsible are cursed for stealing your machines and get what's coming to them.

Thank you both for the excellent level of entertainment you provided, i enjoyed myself immensely, thank you.

Your call is important to us.

If it's so important, answer the f*ckin phone!

Like everyone else here in the UK, I'm gutted that this could have happened.

I've been travelling to contests all over the UK (and much of Europe as well) for years now, and no-one has ever questioned my taking the models in to the hotel room overnight. They might get a bit twitchy about fuel, but not models. I certainly wouldn't leave mine on view in a car park, but that is not to criticise visitors for not having local knowledge!

If its any consolation, the heli community is a fairly close knit group over here, and anyone trying to sell these to a model shop or a club is likely to be quickly handed over to PC Plod.......

Again, I just want to share my disgust that some idiots can do such a thing.

Thanks for the fantastic performances you both did and I really enjoyed hearing you talk during the seminars.

We all want to see you back next year and hope you have not been put off from returning.

Hopefully these machines will turn up soon - as Pete says - it's a pretty small community.

Why are women more complicated than helicopters?

i think maybe people could donate to allan as a thankyou for the good entertainment isn't exactly a big whack on our heads, if it is maybe we shouldnt be in this hobby, but if alan set up a paypal id be happy to donate a few quid.. if everyone did that, im pretty sure alan would feel alot better as he no longer has "nothing"

id like to know what other people think about this.. its the least we can do surely for such a great flyer?

Does it really matter at this point where they were left overnight?

Point is that they are letting the community know that the heli's are gone and to be on the look out. I am quite sure hindsight has already crossed Alan, Danny and families minds already.

Good luck in locating the perpetrator(s) and recovering your property.

What's all this "left in the car overnight" crap. So its the Szabo's fault is it? Simply lost for words that you would try and justify the theives behavior!

I used to live in the UK and I know what its like but these guests don't - they expect people to be honest and trustworthy.
