Check out the pics in my gallery. Rick's has these in kit form and instructions are included on how to get this show room finish.

Note: the others you see here are copies of this box. This is the orginal field box that I made for myself. I also made Scott Gray one for him to use at the World Championships and the 3D masters. After many request from all over the world, thanks to Scott,I started supplying these boxes in kit for to hobby shops.

ssrobzoom,

A guy I met at an airfield in Vegas had one of those he'd gotten from a company in Eureka, CA I believe. I thought I'd written it down but couldn't find the note, but they did have a website. You can get them custom built to your specs. VERY nice design and finish.

I also have a Pelican 1400 for my Tx, but I wanted to carry just my heli, one bag and my table to the field. So, that's how the AWP bag came to be.

Pelican is great, but my trips to the field are short and in a Honda, not in the back of a truck. So, my gear doesn't really get exposed to potential abuise or road rash.

I bought the Hobbico Ultra Tote Complete Combo from my LHS. I asked around and most said this would work well. I haven't used anything yet so I can't speak to the practicality of the “combo”. Just checking prices on what you get, if you buy it for $120 US (the average street price; I did get mine for just under $110) you save about $10 US vs buying all the contents separate.

If you do like this particular tote the Tower Hobby price is $19.99 for it unfinished, or $32.99 finished in your choice of yellow, red, white or blue. I personally spent about 4 hours assembling, probably 2 hours with a plane and sandpaper to get the parts to fit and clean up the rough edges. Add another 3 plus hours with some wood putty and heavy duty enamel to finish it out. So unless you like wood working, sanding, and finishing, save yourself the 10 hours and cough up the extra $13 to get it pre-built.

Nope, but I suppose I could fit one in if I needed.

I could adapt a micro-power panel with a 12-7 gel cell or maybe a slightly smaller gel 12vdc battery and still have room for my TX. I gotta make a protective bag for my 9C so it'll slip into this carry bag and not get scratched up. I have been carrying the 9C in a Pelican 1400, but I'm constantly trying to consolodate and downsize and this new AWP tool bag seems to be the "one" for me
