| Adding oilAs for adding extra oil for extra protection after brake-in,,,
for a motor that has been broken in well, I would think you don't need to add extra oil, but some say that their motors do run better/cooler !!, but maybe that extra oil allows you to lean your motor more because it should run cooler ??!,,,,, and adding extra oil to any 2 strokes fuel (gas or glow) will make it last longer and run cooler,,,,,,,,,
Why I think you don't need the extra protection,,,
Cool Power 15% nitro has 17% synthetic oil, that's 21.76 ounces of oil to 1 gallon, that's a lot of oil for a gallon of fuel !!,,,,,,,
For braking-in a new motor I would say use Castor,,,
for braking-in my new OS 50 I added Byrons Castor Brake-in Lude to Cool Power 15% nitro,,, for the first "1/2 gallon" I add 3 ounces, (1/2 gallon I said !!) that brings the oil content up to 22%, I flew the heli very very rich for this first 1/2 gallon, the carb was so rich on it's first tank that it burned about a 1/2 tank of fuel to climd-out just 6/7 times to 20/25Ft, that was full throttle !!,,,,,,,
For the next "first full gallon" I added 3 ounces of the Byrons Castor Brake-in Lude, that brings it up to "all most" a 20% oil content, now I will just fly it quite rich,,, for the 3rd gallon I will add 2 ounces,,, and for the 4th gallon I will add only 1 ounce,,,,,, Castor is a fantastic lude and cooler for your motor, but it stains,,,,,,, so adding 3.75 ounces of oil to a full gallon of 15% C-Power brings it up to an oil content of 20%, and 5 ounces would up it to a 21% content, 5 ounces sounds like a lot,,, but Byrons new blend 15% nitro has 20% oil, synthetic only !! ,,,,,,,,,
Now, all my friends never add extra oil, for planes or helis, they just run them rich for a while !!
