I've got about a week and a half into learning on my Blade. I've got hovering indoors down pretty good, though I can't hold th 2-3" deviation I read some of the experienced guys can do with it. I can spot land and hover where I want fairly well. Outside hovering becomes more difficult for me but I can generally get the thing to the ground right side up no damage flying over grass.

This week I began experimenting with foward flight. I find that it takes considerable down stick to keep the thing flying forward. If I let off at all the nose goes up and she quickly slows from forward flight and is off course. This is after being trimmed to hover in the house. As far as trim I think it's at least real close. I may have a slightly bent mainshaft which I do have a replacement for. Swash plate is level all around, paddles straight with their brackets, new blades balanced and in track at 1/2 throttle. I notice that they go out of track at full throttle with the heli in my hand though and there is some vibration once the rotor is spooled up (bent shaft?). As far as neutral pitch I don't have a guage but figured that I could set it by running to 1/2 throttle and 1/2 throttle trim and flipping the idle up switch and the heli should stay the same weight in my hand, not trying to lift up or drive down any harder...and that should be neutral pitch right?

Thanks for any help. I am really enjoying this heli but am finding it difficult to progress with the present problems. I have crashed it a few times as is common to all newbies I guess. All repairs have been made and as far as I can tell things are set OK. I called Horizon and the fella I talked to wasn't much help...I was surprised.

The Blade is a great micro. I had a Hornet FP and IMO it sucked. Anyway, the forward stick in forward flight is normal. It comes from the lift generated by the advancing and retreating blades. The advancing blade creates more lift, the retreating one less. You would think the it would tend to make the heli roll to the right, but the rotor reacts just like it does with flybar inputs and makes the front of the disk pitch up. Sym blades will decrease this tendancy, but it will always be there.

If you haven't already, do the sticky collective fix. I did mine, as well as polishing the head/slider. This made a world of difference with mine.

Thanks for the response 401. The pitch up makes sense when you explain it that way. What did you polish the slider with? I assume you mean the swash and main shaft right?

Turns out the shaft did have a VERY slight bend in it but it was enough to have a lot of influence on the blades. I replaced it and you can even hear the difference in the spool up. Blades track perfect at half thorttle but still go out a little under hard pitch. Also still have a vibration I can't find. Maybe I should get a more accurate scale for weighing blades. I think my wife has access to one at work.

I'm still istening if anyone else has any guidance to offer

NP. I didn't really polish the main shaft or the swash plate. I guess what I meant was that I disassembled the head and lightly sanded the top of the head where the flybar slider mates with it (can't really polish black plastic), and added some light oil to that area. I think I used some 800 and 1500 grit with a light touch. I just wanted to take off the rough finish without making the slider "sloppy" on the head. I should have taken some pix, but I didn't.

One thing I noticed when I got it back together is that the right rear servo arm is a couple of degrees low, but the left rear and front servo are level. I put a caliper on the links and the RR link is longer than the other two. I guess that is normal since there are no sub trims on the Tx for the individual servos to adjust this out.
