Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > Hawk SEII questions tail binding, start shaft

I am finishing up my SE, and have found 2 problems, 1 my tail control rod binds and does not move smoothly, I am using a tail mount servo (9253/401) I believe it is sticking cause it hits the gear case, I have seen some mods for this ( i think, using a washer or fuel tubing) can someone confirm this. I assume I just stick the tubing against the case?

2 my start shaft binds, is moves smoothly up and down till it engages in the fan then will not come up, unless you pull it?

also have 2 plastic spacers left about 1/8 thick with about 3/16 hole sorry i'm not good at metric sizes any ideas they are similiar to the ones used for the landing gear but bigger

I would loosen back up the screws that go into the starter shaft guide blocks. This will allow you to realign the two blocks together so the shaft will move freely up and down. you can also put some lubricant on the shaft to help it also (make sure and use a 'plastics safe' lubricant, I personally use MA's lube). When I put my raven together, I had the same problem keeping those blocks lined up with each other. It just basically took some fiddling with them while tightening down the screws that hold them in the frames. Once you get it right the starter shaft should move freely up and down.

Good Luck,

I had the same problem.. I added a longer ball link
and it solved my problem. the rudder tube doesn't
touch the case now. heck I tried everything. even moved
the arm on the servo , took off the braces , it drove me crazy
dunno why centrey says it works. it doesnt until you modifiy it.
or dremal off the corner of the case a small amont I guess,
good luck

Starter Shaft

A body of mine had the same problem on His Hawk. Simply loosen the eight screws and the shaft will re-align itself. Then re seat the screws. No more rubbing on the shft and no turned engine bolt (GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR). I do this whenever the shft gets sticky on the return.

Concep1, Change the ball link for a medium one. Check your Falcon Swash Plate and you will see that there you use a 2 diferent length ball. You have a medium and a short size. Maybe you can take out one and try it to see if it work.

Then check the reference on your manual and order it from Century.
