Hi guys! I just got a Falcon after reading Kirks Review.. SO far I am Impressed with this kit.. And NOT the Instructions! *LOL* But Anyhow
I still have a few problems to figure out.. Number ONE is that the Upgrade Carbon Tube to run the tial rotor Is touching under the tail
boom where the plastic housing is by the bolt.. behind the tail fin
ANY FIX for this? Dremal off a section? Or what?

Number two.. Is that swashplate holder.. (autorotation bracket)
That your supposed to
put the White plastic tube over the hex bolt and screw it in.. Ok
I did that.. But is feels so ruff.. Doesn't wanna slide EASY! NOT
Smooth at all.. SO do I sand a little or what?

Number Three... I have noticed. On the Tail Roter Grip the
instructions show put BALL in top right and the picture shows
Put the BALL in the Top Left.. I have noticed in some pics in
this fourm that the ball is on the TOP RIGHT..??????

Just added some pics of my problems

Number Four.. Also I am going to add a GY 401 along with
a 9292 Dig Servo.. Will that be fine?

Thanks For all Your help on this matter! I am sure there will
be more Q's For ya!
And THANKS Kirk! For your help as well~S~ I thought I would give him
a break from me..

Maybe on the rear you can use a diferent stand off length ball.
So the carbon push rod clear the plastic case

Hello Cougar, I am pretty sure you can get this in Heli Proz, Century, or Rick rc heli.

Check your Falcon Swash Plate and you will see that there you use a diferent length ball. You have a medium and a short size. Maybe you can take out one and try it to see if it work.

Then check the reference on your manual and order it from Century.

As for the anti-rotation you might want to try a piece of brass tubing from the local hobby shop. I saw the display model of Century's and that is what they did, so I did it to mine and it works fine.

Falcon Help

Hi
One more thing to do, the bearings on the counter shaft need to be locked
to the shaft or they can burn out the shaft. I use bearing fit (green) or JB weld.
Also the flat on the shaft has to be extended a mm down or so to remove any play up and down.

Proper assembly will prevent wear on the counter Gear shaft

The following method locks the bearings to the shaft by slightly preloading the inner races of the shaft bearings. It is very important that there is absolutely no vertical movement of the counter gear shaft when mounted in the frames

This is the way I have done it on many Hawks and Falcons
While the counter gear assembly is mounted in half the main frame. Apply pressure to the top of the Pinion gear and the bottom of the counter gear shaft simultaneously while you tighten the set screw. you will not need to use locktite or JB weld on the bearings. Make sure that the set screw lines up with the flat on the counter gear shaft if it doesn’t then grind the flat on the counter gear shaft so the set screw will tighten down on the ground flat spot.

Blazen, this is new for me. Can you explain how the preload work.

I’ve posted it many times. Let me see if I can track it down and I will post a link to it. Unfortunately I’m not real good at Explaining mechanical assembly via type. (G)

Here is a more detailed Explanation of how to Properly preload a bearing

If you are experiencing galling on the counter gear shaft you have not properly preloaded the shaft bearings !!!!

The counter Gear is designed to mate with and apply slight upward pressure on the inner race of the lower bearing.

While the spacers under the pinion gear is designed to mate with and apply slight downward pressure on the inner race of the upper bearing.

By applying slight pressure to the inner races of both bearings utilizing a part that is securely attached to the shaft you in affect lock the bearing to the shaft. once again in order for preloading to work properly there must BE ZERO END PLAY in the counter gear shaft assembly

To preload these bearings follow the procedure outlined below.

1. With the assembly mounted on one half of the frame and while pushing up on the counter gear and the bottom of the counter gear shaft simultaneously apply downward pressure to the pinion gear.

2. while maintaining firm pressure tighten the set screw and test the assembly.

3.Test the assembly while it is in the frame by slowly turning the gear it should rotate smoothly with absolutely ZERO END PLAY and minimal friction.

4. If it feels notchy and hard to turn you have applied to much pressure and this will cause premature bearing wear.

5. If there is any end play you have not applied enough pressure and the shaft will spin within the inner races of the bearings.

It is as easy as that !!!!

On some early counter gear shafts the flat that the set screw tightened into was not long enough. In order to preload the Shaft bearings properly you must grind this flat longer to allow the pinion gear to properly put pressure on the shaft spacers...
