Probably a dumb question but I don't see it in the Hirobo catalog.

James -

Do a search on "avant" - lots of good reading. Xspec - more of a personal thing, but many have upgraded an Xpec to Avant and felt it was worth it!

Kenheli... the answer is undoubtly yes. The X-spec is a great flying machine, but it's still not as good as the MA machines that fall into the same price range as it. I've flown all 3 helis, (Fury, X-Spec, and the Avant) and performancewise, the nod goes undoubtedly to the Avant. The Fury is faster and snappier than the X-spec but it's not a very stable machine. The X-Spec I found to be the opposite; very stable, very smooth just not quite responsive enough. Enter the Avant. Faster than the Fury with the same smoothness and predictability you've come to expect from Hirobo. The Avant is far easier to work on than the Fury, the CCPM mechanics are done properly and it costs less. I'm building my Avant from a plastic Freya. If you pick up a used Freya and the Avant kit, you can have (in my opinion) the best 3D machine currently available at a price on the order of a few hundred dollars better than the competition.

Better Yet!

Very well said Ron! And I might add, Rick's is blowing out his remaining stock of Freya kits for $425! Talk about stars aligning!

I agree whole heartedly with your assessment of the flying characteristics - it is truly unique in it's range of set up capability.

I thought about that for a minute, But I want he x-spec to get all the extra bling right from the start. Then I'll upgrade to the Avant when I crash or my skills justify it. Thanks for the help, I can't wait to ge the x-spec.

your choice but most of that 'bling' isn't re-used or at least you
should do a cost analysis because you are going to end up
buying the Xspec for 900ish and then the Avant for 600ish
so do you think you can buy the bling you want for the $400 differential?

I think the bling will cost about $400, but I get the advanges of the x-spec in the mean time.

I would pass on the Xspec, and wait for the EVO.

I thought the x-spec was still a step up from the Evo?
