HIROBO Freya - Sceadu - Shuttle > Sceadu battery box

In the manual of the sceadu, the battery box can be used for the batteries or for the receiver. I've got 4 cells in a row which won't fit into box, Can I buy batteries that'll fit i.e. 2 on top of 3 Or if I fit the receiver in this box, can I unscrew it later on in the building stage to connect all the servos up to it. As this is my first heli?model I don't wanna screw it up!

Your flat 4 cell pack should fit in the battery box. Mine fit in there with 1/4" foam on top and bottom of it. But I would recommend putting both the receiver and battery on the tray up front for cg purposes. My Sceadu 30 was very tail heavy with the battery in the stock location so I put it up front with the receiver and now it balances out pretty well.

I placed my receiver in the battery box all padded up and placed my battery right in the front on the tray. Heli balances perfectly.

My 4 cell flat pack fits in the battery box without any problems and my receiver is up front. However, as I have had to add 120g of lead up front to balance the heli I am going to move the rx to the battery box and place the battery up front. This will hopefully allow me to get rid of the lead. As far as I remember, you can leave the battery box unscrewed until the end and then fasten it up - I hope I am correct as I am going to have fun moving the battery and rx around if I am wrong !!

Eric, where did you get your rx pack from and what make is it ??

I have a 2000mah Graupner pack in mine that fits in the tray like a glove, then the receiver up front. Balances absoluteley spot on

Thanx for all the replies

The batteries I've got fit, but a VERY tight squeeze and the sides bow, which I didn't think was quite right!

While I'm replying, is it best to loctite all the side self tapping and other screws in?
I'm new to this.................................

Did you get your 2000mah Graupner pack in the UK? If so from who and approx how much?

Cheers

2000Mah Graupner packs from Motors and Rotors 01923 465712
Perfect fit.

Wouldn't bother locktiting self tappers, just make sure you dont strip them out. One peice of advice, replace the + head screws and nuts which go thru the sideframes near the mainshaft bearings and tail drive gear with allen head bolts and M3 locknuts available from errrr screw dealers. The + head screws are easy to round off, and I like em done up tight to make sure the bearings can't spin in the sideframes. Do this on the clutch bell bearing as well, cos if you do strip one out when it comes to repair time you'll be

Manxman,

Just a bit of advise...don't ever use loctite on plastic to hold the screws. Seems some brands melt the plastic. If you want to secure the self tapping screws use Ca glue instead, but I've never had a problem using the screws by themselves. Just go over them every few flights.

One of the best places in the UK to get battery packs is Overlander,

www.overlander.co.uk/new/

I am suprised that the JR packs don't fit in the box, I only use packs from Overlander and they all fit OK. I am using a 2100mah nihm flat pack in mine.
