I have had an .80 in my CS for sometime, I've been running a 8.8 ratio with great results. Now I'm thinking about changing it to an 8.4. Anyone running the 8.4 ratio that can give some positive or negative feedback? Thanks.

Gear ratio

I ran mine with 8.4:1 and it worked great. I think it will probably be an improvement over the 8.8:1. Steve.

Good to hear Steve. Do you recall what head speed your were getting with the 8.4? 1800 range?

RPM

I used about 1750. Sorry I don't remember for sure. It had a ton of power on CP 30%. Steve.

Gears

I'm running 8.4 on mine at 1800 head speed with Powermaster 30% heli fuel and it runs like a raped ape. BTW I switched from a OS# 8 to an OS-F plug and in my combo the engine likes it much better along with much longer plug life. Worth a try. Now if I could just figure out how to get better fuel economy. I'm on gal 16 through this motor.

Thanks for the reply Mike, A type F huh? A four stroke plug works better? I think I will put it back together with a 8.4 ratio.

Type F

You might try one. I have a lot of #8s in my flight box that I will be hanging up in my shop. Don't know why this set up works so well, but I'm sticking with it.
