Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Flew the Avant yesterday

I flew Nolan's Avant at the Chattanooga funfly yesterday and although he was still breaking the YS in (ie the engine was pig rich) it was still out climbing, out rolling and out tumbling my Tempury. The machine really tumbles and rolls within itself really really well. It piro flips tighter than my Tempury does. IThe Avant's collective response is on the insane side. It flies like the machine is anticipating your next collective input because it happens so quickly. I'm very, very impressed with it given the little that I was able to fly it. Augusto hurry up and get mine to me!

I keep telling people to use the 9255 servos or equivalent in their brand of radio because the pitch response is so insane that by using high current ones the only thing they are going to get is either less flights per charge or be forced you to install a large 4400 mah battery. I fly with a 2200 mah battery and 9255 servos and the response is still so fast that I have to take it easy on the sticks.

Do you use li-ion's or li-po's? I have been thinking of doing the same.

Nope.. Nolan didn't put me up to it. I got about 2 minutes of flying on the Avant and I was smiling like a kid in a candy store the entire time. It's that good. Hovers like a Hirobo does (ie contest quality) and the machine is so fast it's ridiculous. I'm flying a Tempury right now that I put about a 5 gallons through every week. It's tuned well and it doesn't fly like Nolan's Avant did. Nolan had a YS in it that had less of a gallon through it so it was still pig rich. I couldn't give it a proper flogging. The little that I did though was impressive to say the least. Rolls and tumbles are within the helis own space. The collective responsive is just crazy... I keep saying that and you hear other pilots say it, but until you fly one you'll never appreciate what I'm talking about. It doesn't hesitate in the least to change directions. It's going to be a good one. I've already got a C-Spec, with a "special carb", and a tuned pipe waiting for mine. I won a Fremeco, 4800 mah li-ion pack and one of their dual voltage regulators, so I'll probably install those. Even at 6 oz it's lighter than the lead pack ni-cad that Nolan was running. Stratus who?
