I already have the carbon sides w/fuel tank ones and tail fins and metal tail pulleys that I'm not using yet.

thank you

Richard,

The Std Vigor is a good solid model to step up to after you feel comfortable with you trainer. In my mind there is really only two functional upgrades for the Vigor: CCPM and Torque Tube. Your current flying style/level will determine which upgrade would be more beneficial. Frankly of the two, I prefer the CCPM upgrade, it really turns the heli into a whole new bird, the added precision with the CCPM is unmatched.

As far as the Torque Tube goes, you really only need this upgrade during extreme aerobatic autos (piro autos, etc) So if you are doing the basic autos you can easily get by with the slipper clutch. Plus if you have a bad rough auto you run the risk of damaging the bevel gear.

As far as anything else, you are better off to spend the money on some fuel and fly the heck out of the Vigor.

Hope this helps
Erik

BTW - The Steve Gray Main Mast is a good option, much harder than the stock mast.

Functional upgrades...

HI TheBigE,

Thank you for the reply, I know one thing though is that I should change the bushings that are on the front control unit where it attaches on the fuse... do you agree with that? Is there bearings there already? it is kind of stiff to me. Though I have a 9202 servo for pitch it still seems like the servo lags or is slower than the 9202 i have on the throttle.

Thank you

Richard

Richard,

It has been awhile since I had the STD Vigor, but as I recall I believe that the control assembly does not have any bushings. I could be wrong in this case though. You best bet is to disconnect all the links and see how the assembly moves without any resistance from the head or tight links. Then one by one add a link and see if the resistance changes, if it does you probably need to resize the link some. As I remember, my assembly was pretty smooth, and all I did was what I mentioned above.

As far as the servo lagging. I assume it looks visually that the throttle servo is lagging the pitch servo? This is perhaps not the best way to determine if the servo is behind, instead (assuming you engine is reasonably tuned) try doing a vertical climbout and listening to the engine to see if it keeps up with the load or gets bogged down.. Usually, most of these problems can be corrected with working on your TH geomeotry, instead of replacing servos. (I believe Ron Lund had a good aticle on TH geometry on his site) Incidentally, I have found that the larger Servo Wheels (16-18mm hole) work best for maximizing TH geometry on the Vigors. Just my observations.

Hope this helps
Erik
