I've just purchased a Vigor Std, that I'm going to use as a bit of a hack machine and as a backup to my CS.

I'm currently tearing it down and cleaning it all up, is there any parts in particular that I should be inspecting closely to check for wear?

I've not noticed many parts on my CS that wear quickly, so I'm wondering if there would be any on the Std, that did.

Make sure you check, clean and re-sand the RF Ground plate and contact areas Si, maybe go through and feel for notchy bearings. Hows the head dampeners?

Vigor

The grounding plate corrodes and no longer grounds as it should. The 3mm screw that holds on the front t/r drive pulley sometimes comes loose and needs to be Loctited in place. The clutch bell will wear against the bearing that it fits into; it needs some red Loctite to hold it in the bearing. If it starts to spin in the bearing it costs $50.00 to replace. Hope this helps. I'll double check the grounding plate.

This heli has the upgraded belt pulleys, they're metal at both ends.

I checked the dampeners, they're a bit soft for my liking, so I brought another set which I'll put in.

I haven't yet pulled any of the bearings yet, but that's next.

A Webra 91 is going into this bad boy.

If you have an agressive gyro, you can strip the stock pullies. By going to the aluminium this solves the problem. I run the aluminum pullies on my Voyager IMZ too Si. Sounds like you bought a nice heli, or it will be as soon as you replace a few parts. I'm going with the O-Ring setup in my CS head when it goes back together. I purchaced the upgrade last season but never installed it yet. Since the CS is down due to the servo failure I'll iinstall the O-Ring dapeners and see if I can see any difference in flying. I have read that pilot say a PCM receiver is a good idea also in the stock Vigor.

I pulled the top mast bearing last night and sure enough, it's notchy, so I shall be replacing that.

Actually Rick, you just reminded me that I also have the o-ring upgrade which I brought for the CS, but never put it in. I think I'll put it in the STD.

Sure enough, the grounding plate needs some attention. The carbon base plate had never been sanded back where the grounding plate mounts, so I shall get some sandpaper on that.
