and here is another thing, How can a manufacturer miss designing a heli with that big aof a screw up on the servo placement and then you have to cut up the canopy to make it right...it just dose not make any sence at all!

Yes, servos are PITA to mount. For those who are building the X400, it is better to mount the servo upfront before you put the frame together. Also, make sure that you use some glue or CA for those bolts or screw that go into plastic.

I cant believe that all the linkages are sooooo smooth! all parts that needs to move can be move by a blow of a wind!
just put all the frames together... still waiting for the electronic parts to come! This is X-400 is awsome!

you don't want to glue the screws into the holes. Otherwise it'll make it tougher to dissemble that area. Just screw it in but don't overtighten, I've found that one tends to strip out the plastic if screwed too tight. If you do strip the plastic then use a little ca let it dry then rescrew it.

It is not a screw up. The original kit intends that you use z bend wires for the aileron linkages. It is only when you put on optional ball linkages that you run into a problem with the body shell. To be honest, I put the z links on and there was hardly any play from them so they are fine.

The manual is wrong, you should mount the servo from the underside, this is the only thing that needs to be changed!

ok I can buy that about using z-bends insteead ot ball links. I take it that the z-bends bring the linkage down a ways or did the guy with the picture of the cut up canopy mount his servo the wrong way?

I found that those screw that goes into plastic tends to loosen up after a while. That's why I recommend a little CA with the screw.

Cannot see from the picture if the servo is mounted on top of the frame or below. When I put the servo from below the frame and use z bend wire I have no problems with the shell (It's close, but does not touch). I'm using a Futaba 3107 servo.

Also use the canopy screen it gives the neccessary room.

yes some parts are interchangeable between the tex and x400, but some parts arent.

perhaps the spinning of the outrunner motor was causing some weird harmonics vibration. I've got a multiplex 3D in mine with a 11T, runs a little hotter then I like but it's got decent power.

I should be getting mine next week. I’ll let you guys know if has 3D capability. I plan on using the following set-up.
X400 Heli
Futaba 3103 servos (3)
Futaba 401 w/HS50
Mega 16/15/5 motor with 10/11 or 12 tooth pinion
CC 25 amp speed control
UBEC for servo power
(2) TP 1320 3s batteries Total 6s set-up 25.2 volts max
Should be capable of about 300-350 watts output and only pull about 12-16amps max.

Went all Electrons, No more mess

why not go 3103 all around and use a 6v s/u-bec? At 6v the 3103 is as fast as the hs50 and more reliable too.
